Replying to: insidertrading (Jul 26, 2008 12:48 pm) I drive a five door and have had no problems to date (a bit under 4000 miles, 4 months of ownership). An undetermined (small, but not insignificant) percentage of people have had some check-engine light issues, although no breakdowns to my knowledge. There have been some issues with delays in getting parts. >> 2. Has anyone had to replace any non-warrantied wear & tear items and what were the cost(s)? n/a for me, but I have heard that the oil filter costs about $10. >> 3. Has anyone taken any long road trips? If so how were the ride and useability? Went on a 300+ mile each way road trip. No problem with comfort for me or my passenger. The radio has a convenient "autoscan" feature (at least in the base model) that picks out the nine strongest stations at any given time and presets them. Works great when traveling between cities and trying to find a station that doesn't play crap. |

| All was going well with my Astra until I hit about 6000 miles. It's been in and out of the shop since. First A/C problems, now engine problems. It's been at the dealer for the past 2 weeks and it is still not fixed. | |

Saturn sold about 500 Astras in January and has seen sales increase steadily since then, hitting nearly 2,000 units last month, spokesman Steve Janisse said. "It definitely did get off to a slow start," he said. "It's been pretty fun to watch it take off." And a price point under $20,000 makes the Astra a good first-car option. There's been a buzz factor in the blogosphere and on the social networking scene, he said. "It seems to be a hit with the younger crowd," Janisse said. http://www.sbsun.com/search/ci_10413237?IADID=Search-www.sbsun.com-www.sbsun.com- |

I purched an 08 Astra XR 5 door in July. Love everything about car but auto trans. Don't like it when it shifts into neutral at stop light. When you start up again it seem to hit into gear hard with a jerk. The rest of the car I really like. Fit & finsh is very well done. This is a great little car. Has the price gone up a lot? Mine has everything, XR, adv audio, sport handling, premium trim, leather seats, auto, no sunroof, total sticker price less tax was $21,655.00. Test car in article had a price of $26,300.00. Maybe not US dollars. Let me know. |

Replying to: pf_flyer (Nov 24, 2008 11:18 am) The exchange rate is actually OK now since the dollar increased in value compared to Euro, GM has an opportunity to price and market the Astra more aggressively since they are no longer losing money on each one imported.
