I like the looks of the new XF. I have never owned a Jaguar and am concerned about buying a car from a company that is losing tons of money and on the market to be sold. The old saying about not buying the first year of a new model might also apply hear. We all hate problems with our cars especially a new one. Any thoughts?

i think the xf is really attractive, seems to be priced reasonably, and the engines are known and well regarded quantities at this point. but, if they are going toe to toe with the 5 series they have a tall hurdle to clear on handling and steering...that's where the germans excel. i hope these cars, especially the higher powered versions, don't scrimp on sport sedan handling/steering characteristics....they will miss their target otherwise.

| i think another reason for no v6 is that the v8 already is reasonably fuel efficient--relative to standards set by the competition anyway. i also hope they are able to bring a diesel version stateside. it sounds like it is in the plans....i may actually drive one after it comes out, just to see how it stacks up. | |
