I went into the dealership this evening braving the chill and snow of a Michigan winter evening. The dealership was empty yet no one came to assist me until about 5 minutes after I was looking around the car. OK - no big deal I thought. However, after listening to the specification of the vehicle (which i already knew from my research), I asked the dealer about what deals they had going. Imagine my astonishment when he told me there were NO deals on the SC. No 'A' plan accepted on the SC and no invoice pricing !!!
His comment was ''if I was serious'' (Duh - why am I in the dealership on a snowy and windy night!), then maybe they may knock $1K off the MSRP.

Wow, in today's econonmy (and with an empty dealership on a late opening night), I ws dumbfounded when he said there were no deals. In my business, we're having to cut deals left right and center (and I'm not involved in the auto industry !).

This was really surprising. I don't see how they expect to survive this downturn when EVERYONE ELSE is willing to deal. Only today Aston Martin announced layoffs (one third of its workforce) in the UK. NO one and I mean NO one is immune to the effects of the financial crisis. I wonder why Jaguar think they're special !!! And how many are buying V8s in today's brave new world.

Thanks, I'll look elsewhere for my next vehicle

I had a similar experience. Jaguar has given incentives on the base model and the premium but nothing on th SC. They at least currently were unwilling to make any deals on the SC. I have watched the dealers stock of vehicles gradually increase over the last 6 weeks. The dealership has been empty the two times have been in it. They are not currently selling cars as best I can tell. I need a new car but am not in a rush. I hope they begin to deal a bit as our country's economy circles the drain. If not I will get a 5 series even though I am not crazy about it.

I agree. I'm also looking at BMW. There are 8 SCs on the lot and not one has moved in the past two / three weeks. Any they still don't want to deal. Obviously, they either have their heads in the sand or they're so confident about the economy that they see no need to deal !!!

From what I've seen in Michigan (home to the unemployed!), vehicle sales are WAY down and there aren't many large engine sedans visible on the roads today. Even SUVs (which were so predominant) are less visible and there seem to be so many smaller cars on the roads these days. I've only seen a couple of SCs and not that many L / PL models either.

BMW (and for that matter Merc) seem to be more open to deals. Good luck to Jaguar. I think their policy will backfire on them.

Pricing and winter driving by jfortino

I picked up my XF Premium Luxury Oct 31. I cannot remember the money factor or residual, but the car was loaded and stickered at 58K - i rolled in $3500 in taxes, and no money down, with 15k miles and my payment is $910/mnth. I am sure I could have held out for a better deal, but i really wanted the car!! I freakin love this vehicle!!!!! Everything about it is awesome. I still am trying to find reasons to go to the store, or pick up the kids at school!!!

Also, the traction control works excellent - here in Chicago we have had some pretty bad snow, and it handled great.

The only problem I have is when I accidentally hit the gear paddles on the steering wheel, it throws me off a little.

Thanks for the reply! we just recently had snow here and it worked great. Not as good as our X-type with all wheel drive, but still very good.

Are you in the Bay Area? If so just print the email and take it to any dealer. I am sure they will match the deal.
Good Luck-
