There are three XF models available: Premium, Premium Luxury and Supercharged. The first two have 300 hp V8 and the Supercharged is a 420 hp V8. 18" wheels on the Premium, 19" wheels on the Premium Luxury and 20" wheels on the Supercharged. |

The Supercharged XF starts at $62,975, including shipping. The XF shows off the new face of Jaguar but carries over hardware from the Jaguar S-Type. In comparison, a 2008 S-Type starts at $49,000, including a $665 destination charge. The U.S. XF models launch with either a 300-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 or a 420-hp supercharged variant of the same engine. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddles as standard. What this means to you: Be aware that there's a dramatic gulf between the base XF and the performance model when you head out to the dealership to dicker. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent |

I like the looks of the new XF. I have never owned a Jaguar and am concerned about buying a car from a company that is losing tons of money and on the market to be sold. The old saying about not buying the first year of a new model might also apply hear. We all hate problems with our cars especially a new one. Any thoughts?

i think the xf is really attractive, seems to be priced reasonably, and the engines are known and well regarded quantities at this point. but, if they are going toe to toe with the 5 series they have a tall hurdle to clear on handling and steering...that's where the germans excel. i hope these cars, especially the higher powered versions, don't scrimp on sport sedan handling/steering characteristics....they will miss their target otherwise.
