I had the good fortune to humble some stiff in his 5-series today. I assume he was trying to impress his girlfriend. Instead she got a great view of my rear end. He didn't try again at the second light. |

The 1st blind date sure was nice, though! |

Just rolled my first 2000 mi with no problems. I am curious about the safety feature that the vehicle will shift to park after 10 min. if left in nuetral once turned off. What happens at a car wash? They can easily take more than 10 min through the tunnel?

So I test drove a luxury and Supercharged model last week. Very impressed with the Supercharged performance. I have had many cars over the years and have always liked the 5 series sport model (ie., 550i). However, I think their prices are way out of control, probably a result of the dollar plus I think the interior is dated. I'm getting older to think that a 2 door sport coupe will keep my interest plus I need some space to take the kids around once in a while. So I also checked out the Lexus 460. Nice car too, though plain styling. I like the XF and would only get the SC model. However, I'm concerned over those 20inch rims. Any feedback appreciated. I know they are great for handling, but how bad are they over regular crummy roads? Any other thoughts from new SC owners out there after owning the car for a short while? Thks!!!!

I'll be acquiring a new car late this summer/early fall. The XF is high on my list, but Jaguar's acquisition by Tata causes me to hesitate. Tata Motors is a manufacturer of automobiles only marginally more sophisticated than a gas powered golf cart. Where is Tata headed with Jaguar? All corporate acquirers initially say all the right things to and about the target. Whether they back it up is question resolved only by the passage of time. Will they support the dealers in repair and warranty work? Will they support the parts supply chain? What happens if and when they hit a cash crunch? And how will all of this affect resale value? Are these legitimate concerns or red herrings? Does a lease obviate these concerns by essentially defining and locking in a potential worst-case scenario?

I love the car, and I also have gotten nothing but admiration from my auto enthusiast friends, who are very complementary and surprised by the looks and charms of the XF. My only complaint so far is some very minor creaking in the doors when the car is cold first thing in the morning, although I tend to be hypersensitive about noises. I think it is the weatherstripping which is getting seated.
