That sounds suspiciously familiar to the steering wheel shimmy on first year Supercharged Range Rover Sports. They fixed that problem by using a different steering rack that was more heavily damped.

AFIK the XF uses the steering gear out of the XK and I haven't heard any problems with them. If they are having such a hard time fixing it then it is probably an isolated incident. Have they tried swapping the 20 inch wheels on your XF for a set of 19 inch wheels to see if that reduces the shimmy? If they haven't tried that, and assuming the smaller diameter wheels will fit around the brakes, tell them to try that and see what happens.

Hey guys!
I've been reading some of the entries on this forum before purchasing my first Jag, and I have to thank everyone and this site for their thoughts and reviews.
I spent a few weeks test driving the BMW 5 and 7 series, the Lexus GS and LS, Audi 6 and 8 and the S 550 MB. I have to say that the MB is a beautiful car but was not ready to spend 6 figures on this car. The jag was exactly what my family was looking for in a sedan. The car feel and looks alot better than the competitors. When I drove the rest of the cars, I felt that something was missing. I bought this car yesterday, so I will post future entries on this forum to keep you guys posted.

California SC Lease Deal? by jed3039

I in the intial stages of negoiatiing a lease deal in CA. It sounds like I can get into the SC for about $2,500 down ($4,000 drive off) and montly payments just under $1,000. Does this sound like a good deal. From what I've read here, it seems so. Also, I asked about the service program given they don't offer it like BMW. I was told it is about $3,000 for four years. Does that sound correct as well.

I have tested the XF Premium Luxury twice and am very impressed but concerned about potential Jag issues. Look forward to hearing about your experience with your XF. Hope it is a good one, but tell it like it is.

I'm finishing up my lease on my Infiniti M35X and looking at options. I liked the XF (non SC) in looks and drive. I have some reservations about reliability like others and transition to new owners Tata. But I have a more specific question, how do people think the XF will perform in bad weather/ snow? I live in NJ and while snow is infrequent, it can get bad sometimes. There is a "snow mode" but I assume that is a gimmick . Looks like Jaguar couldn't get an AWD version out in the first year. This will be my primary car so I need something that is useful day to day. (Yes, I can put snow tires on the car but really rarely have time or inclincation to do so)
