I have owned German cars and been quite pleases with their handling and reliability. I like the look and pricing of this car, however Jaguar is a troubled company and has a lot at stake with this car. I don't want to jump into the middle of a problem. I am ready to purchase a car, but perhaps should wait for the car to be out on the road for a while. Let's see how the reviews shake out.

Favorable comments for the XF versus the 5-series.

Jaguar indicated that they did not want to make a V6 because they wanted you to feel the full power, ride, and sound of the V8.

i think another reason for no v6 is that the v8 already is reasonably fuel efficient--relative to standards set by the competition anyway. i also hope they are able to bring a diesel version stateside. it sounds like it is in the plans....i may actually drive one after it comes out, just to see how it stacks up.

Sounds promising. I hope flaws are kept to a minimum.

Not the best written review from a road test point of view but again some praise.

I just placed a deposit for a 2009 Supercharged XF and would like to pick-up in mid-March 2008. Any hopes of negotating a better deal or is the sticker what I am going to pay? Thanks for any advice.

Are you in the US? How were you able to place an order? Do you have a delivery date? I'm really leaning towards this car, but Jag is not making it easy to test drive, supplying only one for test drives and two for "viewing" to my local dealership -- for one afternoon preview! I wasn't even able to drive it. Also, being very mysterious about when this car can actually be delivered, incentives, etc. With all the talk about the Jag brand needing to break through and compete against BMWs, Mercedes, etc., there isn't a lot of support for those of jonesin' for this car.
And, yes, this car has a divine interior, much nicer than my current Mercedes in same price range. I'll take the opinion of the Top Gear lads any day when reviewing a vehicle. (I looked at the Porsche Cayenne with a much more jaded eye having heard their criticisms).

you can order xfs , but not for that kind of delivery date. you can purchase inbound units until they run out. I have a black/black supercharged xf not yet spoken for, but I am sure it won't be long before someone snaps it up. P.S. I wouldn't count on any incentives or deals on these for a while.
