2007 Outlander steering noise..... by toomanyfumes

Does anyone else with a 2007 Outlander here a noise when turning? It's not a clunk like some others have described. It's more of a low pitched hissing, if that makes any sense. It's more noticeable at low speeds and when turning left. I'm hoping it's just tire noise but it's unlike anything I've heard before.

Mine's an LS with the Yokohama Geolander tires.

It could be your A/C turning on, which is normal.

No, it's definitely related to low speed turns, it was doing it tonight and the climate control was off.

I'm going out of town this weekend, I'll have over 3K miles when I get back.

I'm going to schedule it's first oil change and have the dealer listen to it.

You mentioned a hissing noise... could it be a very fast clicking noise?
At any rate, at would check your CV boots to make sure they are intact.

Pick up my new 2007 Outlander today... by jhc003

I pick up my new 07 Outlander XLS today and I'm psyched! Although I must admit you guys are scaring me a little with the "wind noise" and front knock that read about here. Looked at the CRV and RAV4 and the Mitsu just seemed like the best buy for the buck. Now as long as the company remains in the US I'll be all set. The Mitsu seems more powerful and more SUV like than the CRV and RAV4 (it really doesn't seem like it belongs in the compact SUV class). Also drove a Sante Fe which didn't impress me. I think I got a fair deal on the Outlander ($700 off sticker) and a fair price for my trade (Subaru Outback). The dealership has been okay to deal with, nothing outstanding. The Outback has had nothing but problems and it seems like my check engine light goes on every other week. I hope I have better luck with the Outlander and this is my first Mitsu. Does anyone know if the dealership addresses any TSB's when they are prepping the car to go out of the door? I'm thinking of the wind noise. Or do they just let it go and hope there isn't a problem? My guess is they don't address any issues and just clean the car, etc. The posts in this forum have been informative - thanks!

Congratulations! From the price you paid I guess you are in Canada.
Both of the issues you mentioned have been fixed at the factory by now (I would guess your car has been built on or after May). From my experience, the dealers don't do any TSB upon delivery unless you specifically ask.
Of course the "wind noise" debate still remains, but it has nothing to do with the TSB.
Please post back your impressions.

I've heard lots of bad CV's and it doesn't sound like that. I'm going to take a quick look and then let the dealer look at it.

Well good luck with the piece of junk..... It will only get worse. Traded my o7 in today for a Subaru Outback, the best & most reliable all wheel drive car there is.

Congratulations on your purchase. It's a good vehicle, and REAL OWNERS in this forum will attest to that.

Yeah, congrats. I'm sure you'll be happy with your new car.

I think the sound from my front end is just tire noise. I'm not sure if these tires are just loud when turning at low speeds, if they will get quieter when they get more miles on them, or if I have a defective tire.
