First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)
First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)
Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)
Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

It was the first of the BMW bashers and started the acceptance of Japanese vehicles as competitive with (and, as we know, superior to) European vehicles. It was a completely different world back then: no Lexus, no Infiniti.

Replying to: robertsmx (Aug 21, 2007 6:08 am) they make the same power though, which is even more interesting. I wonder what i vtec could have done for power had it been applied to the coupe's v-6. (probably not much for economy though.) anyone read that motortrend article? they said the camry was better in the twisties. from the specs, it seems that the camry se offers mostly trim upgrades such as the interior and body kit...but the suspension itself is only slightly stiffer springs and shocks...so i don't see how this translates into a car thats more eager to take the twisties, when a camry xle with alloys is uber spongy and UN willing. motortrend trying to justify why it won car of the year maybe?.....i try not to pay attention to them anymore. |

Honda is a conservative company, it is not a secret. Think what you may. But, seriously, the Accord has been very boring for way too long. Kudos Honda for making something that you can enjoy with your eyes! P.S. I am not counting Acura, because the Hondas are no where near the style of Acura.

Replying to: eldaino (Aug 21, 2007 6:13 am) To me the new Accord looks great. The interior with the 'wood' looks upscale, the dark interior looks a little cramped. I sincerely hope they bring out a v6 6-speed manual with the lighter interior, the '06 and '07 could only be got with the manual with the darker treatment I think. Exterior looks fine although it matters less to me than how the car feels inside. I am not sure that I (personally) really needed the Accord to get bigger, I had never seen its size as a disadvantage. I guess that extra space without a mileage or handling penalty would be a good thing, I just like being able to get into any parking space without having to worry. My .02c.

Replying to: bristol2 (Aug 21, 2007 6:28 am) But the new Accord coupe is now classified as compact, down from mid-size. The Coupe is larger outside this year, but smaller inside and has less trunk space. Do people care? The new coupe is a great looking vehicle.

Replying to: mitchflorida (Aug 21, 2007 6:36 am) i think the fact that its roomier, with no penalty to performance, or mpg with the added safety is a major plus. |
