First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)
First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)
Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)
Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

I agree with those who are recommending restraint, or at least patience, in evaluating the 8th gen through the early pictures. When the 2003 came out, for months I couldn't get past the bloated rear end and droopy tail lights. I bought one anyway (loved the car except for that), and over time I actually came to like the style. The Accord isn't designed to blow you away on first viewing, it's designed not to make enemies and to stand the test of time. At that it does quite well. |

Wish the new Accord would've been the size of the TSX with the same "taut Lines" also...a much better size in my opinion. I do like the new Accord, it's just a little bloated that's all. The Sandman |

Replying to: pickledherring (Aug 23, 2007 3:18 pm) The Navigation version is pretty bad as far as the buttons go. Fortunately, the Non-nav version as you can see in this picture has the sound system controls all grouped together and it appears that could be removed and a custom deck installed. That would make everything look much cleaner. Picture: http://vtec.net/articles/article-image?image=702301/08accord_pr-005.jpg I don't see how a custom deck could be added to the Nav models. PS, if anyone sees interior photos of a Non Navigation with Leather model, please post the link. The difference from this picture is that the Leather version has a dual zone climate control whereas this pic has standard climate controls.

| Does anyone know if the new Accord V6's will have a timing chain instead of a timing belt? Also can we expect the sedan to have a 6 speed manual transmission. | |
I am not sure of the timing chain or belt, but I do know that the 4cy will have a manual available, V6 will not, unless you get the coupe.

I was upset to hear that Honda was not doing a 6-speed on the V-6 sedan. I have a 2006 V6 6-speed and love it, such a fun car to drive. I am leasing my current Accord and was going to get the new Accord, but am going to rethink the 2008 Accord now. |

In the 80's when the computer came of age they figured out how tie manufacturing to computer design to smooth out all the bumps, and integrate everything into a semless whole. We had a decade of darn good-looking vehicles. Now that the kids are coming of age (and sorry to say that's who they're marketing to), they want everything to be as ugly as they dress. It's cool to look like you just rolled outta bed. The new Accord (per the photos) is following the design philosophy of Ford with the F-150 pickup. The old 150 was smooth and semless. The new one looks like it's been built outta concrete blocks and appears to weigh about 15,000 lbs. A normal sized human can bearly seen into the tall bed. It looks like a lego project. To a lesser degree, same goes for the pictures of the new Accord. It looks blocky, fat, heavy and remarkably like they something that might have been in an American showroom in the 1970's (other than the headlights). This too shall pass. It will be in style again to make cars that look like we are moving forward. BTW, have you seen the new Chrysler minivan. Same thing. It's beginning to look like a bread-box again.

Replying to: pickledherring (Aug 23, 2007 3:18 pm) Are Accord sales in a slump?? |

Replying to: dardson1 (Aug 28, 2007 9:13 pm) But..... I don't see the relationship in design philosophy to this Accord. I wouldn't call it blocky at all, nor do I see anything that reminds me of the 80s. I would compare the blockiness of the F-150 to the Hummer line or some Cadillacs. |
