First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)
First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)
Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)
Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

Does this boat come with 1 propeller or 2?? |

Are the new '08's made in Mexico or just Marysville OH?

The exterior doesn't look too bad, especially the coupe. Although the length makes it look a bit distorted, like it's been stretched a bit out of whack. Inside, the center console is a cluttered train wreck of buttons. C'mon, we're not flying a 747... although that would explain the size. Some of the color combinations I viewed on Car and Driver are downright nasty, especially the non-nav versions. I would gladly take the previous model's interior over this one. Maybe it looks better in person, but I'm glad I didn't wait for the 08. I don't see this car turning around Accord sales.

Ok seriously, Accords never look good in pictures, except maybe the 94-97. I remember how so many people dissed on the 2003 Accord when it debuted (especially those side-wide tail lights). All the pictures I saw for it were never flattering. Now whenever I see one in person, I can't help but stare at its graceful lines. This is especially true of the 03-07 coupe. In a photo, it looks so damn plain and unsculpted. But up close, it just captures you. . I have a strong feeling that the 08 Accord will be much more appealing if it's right in front of you. Just tint the windows a little, and you got a beauty. Talking about tinting, I think it's one of the main reasons why people are disappointed with the new Coupe, saying that it doesn't look like the concept. Well, the concept had heavily tinted windows, producing a nice contrast between the metallic gray exterior and the blackness of the windows. All the real pictures of the production coupe show the car untinted. (Of course, the other two differences are the tail light shape and lamps, and the body kit...but I digress). By the way, I don't think the new Sedan looks like Sebring or any of that nonsense. Somehow, even with the many creases and lines, it still has "Accord" written all over. (a good thing) |

I agree with the folks who said that the sedan resembles the '02-'05 Saturn L300, right down to the "bulges" in the headlight lenses. However, the grille is more reminiscent of the current Sonata. FWIW, I think the new Sebring also resembles the L300, so there you go. Don't get me wrong, I think it is an improvement over the previous Accord sedan, but I'm surprised that Honda went in this particular direction. I used to think that the previous Accord was "right-sized" until I got into my Dad's new '07 sedan; now the interior feels cramped compared to my Aura. So I'd probably appreciate the extra space in the new Accord. |

I must say this new Accord is a Homerun for Honda. All the people I hear nagging are either 7th Generation owners (maybe upset that this new accord makes theirs look dated and ugly) or Saturn Aura hard-core fans that only buy American and are over at the Nissan and Toyota forums bashing Japanese cars for American Cars. To respond to all the people that are saying it looks like a Saturn L, they need to go get their eyes checked. The rear and front of the car is remeniscent of the 2005+ Acura RL. except the front end sticks out so that all the people calling the Acura design bland would not call this one bland. The rear lights are also almost exactly like the Acura Rl rear lights, just compare the two for yourselves. |

Replying to: hdriver347 (Aug 24, 2007 1:52 pm) I own a 7th gen Accord and love it. If I were in the market for a new car, it would be the 08 Accord, because I like it too. The 08 Accord V6 has a little more of everything than my 03 V6, and that's pretty much what I expected it to be. I keep my cars for at least 10 years though, so it will be a 2013 or later Accord for me. |
