First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)
First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)
Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)
Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

Replying to: bodble2 (Dec 01, 2008 5:57 pm) With 200 horsepower and 195 foot-pounds of torque on tap, the V6-equipped coupe gets to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds. Its fuel economy is 18/26, and the Accord of that era weighed about 400 lbs less than today's model. Today's fuel economy is 19/29, and has more safety equipment, room, and accelerates to 60 MPH 0.5 sec faster according to Edmunds (although most other magazines show a ~1 sec difference - 7.6sec for the old 200hp Sedan, approx 6.5sec for the new 271hp model). I'd call that substantial improvement.

7 sec. is kind of disappointing from a 268HP V6 when the CVT Altima 4 banger hits 60 in 7.4 (C&D test). However, I'm sure it's more than adequate in any normal driving situation.

Replying to: DDynamics (Dec 02, 2008 8:43 am) Edmunds has notoriously lower acceleration times when comparing to C&D and Motor Trend. Those same magazines tested the V6 Accord at 6.5sec. To note the difference, Edmunds showed the I4 Accord running in the low 9s (9.3 I think?), while Car and Driver had it running at 8.2sec to 60. They apparently use different track surfaces/launch techniques than the magazines do. I can see how it'd look bad, but one really has to compare results within the same source to see how vehicles compare, because methods differ from publication to publication.

Replying to: bodble2 (Dec 02, 2008 5:06 pm) Whatever the reasoning, Edmunds' times come out consistently slower, nearly EVERY time.
