What is this discussion about? Honda Accord, Coupe, Sedan

First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)

First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)

Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)

Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

I love my 6 CD Changer! I use it all the time!! I was so impressed that I had one in my car when I bought it! It was great! Now, I just got a Ipod Nano, I am using the FM Modulator, and it is okay. So I really don't use it too much. But, when I get the 08 Accord, I will use the AUX, and that will play a roll on how much I use the CD Player. Even then, I have so much music, that not all of it is on my computer. Most other higher end cars, don't even have changer, switching to a single would bug me now. Or switching to a car without steering wheel controls.

You would simply rip the songs from your CD collection and put them ALL into a tiny portable device and not be limited to just the 6 CD's you could load in.

I (like many others) don't have one of these tiny portable devices, don't need one, and don't want to spend $$$ on one. Is someone giving these devices away? CDs I already have. When these devices are outdated, what will you have to buy next? Seems there is always a new can't-do-without device. I, for one, can and will do without them. Not everyone is convinced they have to have the latest greatest thing, although the makers of these devices would have you believe you can't live without them. Is the sound from an iPod different from the sound from a CD? I don't think so. I was willing to switch from cassettes to CDs, for the improved sound quality, but there is no sound quality improvement from CD to iPod, so there is no reason for me to change.

I concur completely elroy5. I have never had, nor do I expect to ever have, any interest in the latest music player fad(s). I don't have to stay plugged into earbuds or speakers wherever I am.

Just give me choices. I'll make up my own mind.

As the owner of an iTouch, I still use my 6CD changer daily in my Accord.

As the owner of a BMW 550i w/ the USB/iPod adaptor, I so wish it had been equipped with a 6-disc CD changer also. Sometimes I just don't feel like copying songs to a flash drive. I just want to throw a bunch of CDs in and go. There's plenty of life left in the CD-changer world, especially ones that play MP3 discs!

No thanks! If my choices are (a) an old overpriced slow Mercedes, (b) a slow, ugly Beetle, or (c) a nice Accord, there is no question that you would find me in the Accord!
The Beetle TDI is hardly slow; in fact, it's quicker off the line than most comparable gasoline cars due to its having gobs of torque. Furthermore, I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I'd characterize the Beetle as "distinctive" rather than "ugly". At least it doesn't just blend into the background as do some major *ahem* Japanese manufacturers products do... (having said this, I do like the Accord but I'm certainly not buying it for its style!)

Yes, if one has been around a while, it does get tiring, much less costly, to keep replacing hardware and software every few years with the latest trinkets.

Comment on Honda diesel - all one has to do is read the road tests of some of the diesels available in Euprope and salivate - these cars are quicker to 60 than their gas counterparts and still get great mileage. The BlueTec is an evolution from earlier Merc diesels - BMW had a 524 TD in 1985 and 1986 that ran 0-60 in 11 seconds - they now have one that does it in 6!! AND gets great mileage. They simply do not conform to US emissions standards for particulates - hard to believe the Feds are worried about diesel cars and particulates!!!! Just look at a city bus or an 18 wheeler!!

My problem: there simply aren't enough buttons on the center console. And they aren't small enough. Maybe another 20-30 buttons would be nice. Air conditioning controls are so boring when you just have 3 dials for fan speed, temperature and venting - an extra 50 buttons give you something to do when driving.

I especially like how its an endless mass of buttons as opposed to a neat layout of different controls. At least the 1-6 are in order...

Joking aside. Goodness, if I had to drive this thing I would seriously take a crowbar to the interior and at least rip out the center console until I could replace it with something else. Who knows what that would do to the electronics, though... That and remove all the "H" badges for starters. But its still an Accord!

+1 for Toyota or Nissan.

This is a quote from Edmunds' long term test.
"Sure, the buttons look crowded and complex, but when put to task, this is one of the simplest and most user-friendly layouts for a system's interface that we've ever encountered".

Give me a choice of 5 buttons, I have to push only once, and 1 button, I have to push 5 times, to get the selection I want, I'll take more buttons. Edmunds seems to agree. +1 for Accord
