First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)
First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)
Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)
Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

$30k for an Accord is silly. When you see how ugly the new model is, it becomes insulting. They tried too hard to blend the outgoing Accord with the BMW and bring in the Ridgeline (truck) grill on the Accord (car) and headlights exaggerated from the Civic. First, why give the car a truck grill? The grill absolutely kills the front end. Then, you get the R2D2 pop out headlight casing. Why? Those headlights should flow with the car, not stand above it. Wow, then watch how the headlights strangely stretch out to greet the tire fenders. Why? haha, wow. Then, you move the BWM back end with the oddly narrow c pillars and the too much room to the top of the trunk. Last year's model HAD NO trunk, this new design has TOO MUCH trunk surface up top. Lower the EX/EX-L price, give the Accord a more Civic or a more Acura like grill, re-think the headlights and it won't be as bad. It's really the front end that kills this car. Also, the profile has the hood too high giving the front end a bull nose truck feel. Which kills the sporty sedan feeling the lines along he side body try to establish. Interior is gorgeous however.

Personally, I dislike the new Accord's interior, but really liked the exterior; moreso than my current Accord. I feel like the interior of my 2006 Accord blows the new one away as far as interior design and functionailty. And, if you think $30k is too much for an Accord, go find an equally equipped Altima or Camry and tell me how much cheaper they are. I think you'll find that they aren't. |

The dash looks a bit too busy with the large expanse of buttons and all but probably over time one gets used to it. prefer the dash of my current Civic. Do like the exterior though...a nice progression from the last generation with a more luxury look. A nicer overall design than the Camry in my opinion. Just don't understand why it had to get bigger. Last generation's size was long enough. Not everything has to grow with each new model. Personally prefer the TSX size of car...which is probably the Japanese Accord size I'd wager. The Sandman

The reality is, that is the same count in an Accord. The difference, Honda went function over form, having buttons that are easily accessible with minimum time off the road (if at all). Others go form over function (and get credits for it). Check out Edmunds' (and C&D's) take on Accord's dash. It takes more to logically place the buttons than to reduce the count of, or make the dash look cleaner. |

Ignore the birds-eye maple trim in the bottom photo, but in terms of design, which do you prefer? The top picture is an Accord LX-P. The bottom, a 2003 Accord EX cloth. So, top or bottom, and why?

Replying to: thegraduate (Nov 25, 2007 12:09 pm) In terms of usability (buttons/knobs) on the dash, 2003-2007 suffers a similar issue that 2004-2008 TL does. Harder to locate buttons at a glance due to angles and separation, besides them being small. |
