What is this discussion about? Honda Accord, Coupe, Sedan

First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)

First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)

Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)

Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

Voice recognition system recognizes city and street names as spoken words.

Now THAT is great. It is an important piece missing in my TL's navigation system (it will recognize block/house number but requires city and street names to be punched in).

It appears from the center dash photo that Honda has moved the nav display CRT so far back that they can no longer use touch screen controls, substituting instead a joystick. If so, this is a real step backward in usability. My 2006 Avalon uses one and it's the pits. That, plus the frustration of a poor voice input system drove me to buy a portable GPS.

I'm not a Hyundai Fan - I had a 2003 Tiburon with the 2.7 liter V6 even though the engine had been out for some time (in the Sonata) it still have multiple recalls..

But the Azera vs the Accord (with Hyundias 5+ years of experience) could be very close.. it would depend on price!

the 0-60 time of .1 seconds "seeing someones tailights" is rediculous..

.1 seconds is definately a drivers race.. even in auto mode.. it's a 1/10 of a second.. your not going to be that far ahead of someone for them to see tailights..!

Also.. they probably weren't tested in exact same situations.. I can show you 4 different times for 1 car WITH PROFESSIONAL Drivers behind the same vehicle.

The engines are the same.. I'm sure with higher torque at lower rpms.. the Azera power is going to be more Driveable!

I'm not too fond of the new Accord.. I'm hoping it will grow on me.. but initial reactions.. I've driven by them.. haven't sat or driven one.. is that I like the last 07's redesign MUCH BETTER!

I have liked each Accord and Civic more than the previous as they redesigned it.. but this one I'm the opposite..

At 60MPH, you're traveling 8.8' per 1/10th second. Wouldn't be looking at taillights, but it'd be at least half a car ahead at 60. Still insignificant in this class of cars.

I'm with you 50%, I liked the Accord complete make-over of 2006 but not the Civics(too "slopey" like the Prius and truncated bottom). But the Accord of the MMC year of 2006 was phenomenal but if you need cajoling, consider the Vehicle Stability Assist, which works oh so seamlessly, was made "standard" on ALL V6s of all trim levels. Simply phenomenal when you want to smoke someone and not get smoked yourself in a ditch or onto another car or oh oh how about 'a pole'?! A real dynamo year and really socked it to those I4 (dis)illusionists.

True!

Also, since average human reaction time is about 1/4 second, you may be looking at MY tail lights before you realize, and can react to the fact, that I am racing!

Also, my ass isn't sensitive enough to feel a .1 second difference in 0-60!!

Also, as much as I enjoy a fine performing car, I would not base my decision to buy one or another on a published .1 0-60 difference!!!

Also, the same test showed that at the 1/4 mile mark the Accord and Azera were dead even!!!!

Also, other testers may get quite different results!!!!!

You can have your .1 second quicker Accord (if it really is), I'll take the superior features and value of the Azera!!!!!! (BUT, it's your money to waste however you choose!!!!!!!)

My only complaint is they have made it too big --- especially the sedan. If they similarly super-size the next TL, then SH-AWD or not, I won't be a repeat customer!

Nah, this bloated body/chassis will go to the RL. Lord knows it needs it! Not sure what will happen with the TL.

Have you seen it in person, it really does not look that much bigger, the inside is cozy, yet roomy, I think that they did a great job, If you want more sporty, than get the coupe, but then again the coupe is bigger too. I really don't think you'll go wrong with the accord, because it really does not look that much bigger. I was actually suprised when I saw it, the specs made it seems like it was huge. The previous size was a bit better, but this car has much more stance and drives like it too. Most of the time when I see an Accord, it is filled with passengers, so this being a bigger helps. It really doesn't looking bloated, you want big, get the crown victoria..lol

Yep. After not seeing one on the road until last week, I have now counted seven. The new Accord doesn't look any bigger, in fact, its rear/side profile gives an impression of it being a smaller car than the 2003-2005 Accord.

The new Accord is actually not only the same size (exterior) as the Acura RL, it is about the same as the popular Acura Legend from the early 90s. The difference between the Acuras and this Accord is that Honda did a much better job packaging the car, getting a lot more cabin room than it managed in the other two.
