First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)
First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)
Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)
Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

Replying to: andres3 (Oct 02, 2007 1:28 pm) According to Edmunds test data ( http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=109613 ): Azera has a larger engine (3.8L vs 3.5L). Azera is DOHC rather than just SOHC. Azera has more torque (255 vs 248), developed at lower RPM (4500 vs 5000). Azera has slightly less HP (263 vs 268), but is developed at lower RPM (6000 vs 6200). Azera is only 0.1 sec slower to 60 (7.2 vs 7.1), but equal in the 1/4 mile (15.5 vs 15.5). At the other end of performance, Azera stops 9' shorter from 60 (118' vs 127'), due in part to it's larger OEM tires (235/55R17 vs 225/50R17). Azera even has more audio power (315W vs 270W) with more speakers (10 vs 7). So, just what "terms of power and speed" are you referring to that the Azera lacks?? I won't even mention that although the Azera is shorter in length (192.7" vs 194.3"), it is larger on the inside (106.9 vs 101)! Or, the larger Azera trunk (16.6 vs 14.0)! Or, the 10 year warranty!! Seems that you are giving up a lot just to drive a fine car with a "straight H" rather than a "crooked H"!!!!

This is a discussion of the articles listed at the top of the page which are about the 08 Accords specifically. An Azera vs Accord conversation would be most welcome, but it would be better to have it in a more appropriate discussion.

Replying to: pat (Oct 04, 2007 4:37 am) I counted 10 other car models that are mentioned in those three articles. The articles aren't just about the "08 Accords specifically". I would assume that if the article mentions another model that it would be appropriate to include that in the discussion? |

Replying to: fourteen14 (Oct 03, 2007 11:04 pm) I suppose I was referring to the superior 0-60 MPH time which means you'll be seeing my tail lights in a race, all the while I have the smaller engine, which in my mind, the 3.5 is superior to the 3.8 since it can DO MORE with less. Less weight also helps in the MPG category of comparison. THE Honda sohc is superior to the Hyundai DOHC. oh, you left that one out (conveniently).

I had my 04 EXL Navi in for the air bag harness recall, so I sat in a new 08 Navi they had on the showroom floor. I'm surprised on the location of the Navi screen. The 08 has the Navi screen mounted quite a ways forward in the dash. What used to be an easy reach, now is more of a stretch. Did they remove the "touch screen" feature? The controls also look more confusing, with too many added buttons. Mrbill |

Replying to: mrbill1957 (Oct 04, 2007 4:42 pm) I had a 2004 ES 330 with nav and more recently bought a 2006 Avalon Limited with nav. Both were losers from a nav user standpoint. I still have the Avalon, but I also bought a Magellan Maestro 4050 GPS, which I positioned on the steering column right in front of the speedo cluster. Doesn't block my view of anything important and it's easy to check quickly. My suggestion to you is forget the in-dash units and go with a portable GPS for around $400. Much easier to use and does everything better than the factory models claim to do easily. Dandydon

Replying to: mrbill1957 (Oct 04, 2007 4:42 pm) That was done for safety reasons. As Honda described in their press release: The center display provides an important advancement in usability and convenience. Its easy-to-see location at the top of the instrument stack allows the driver to quickly see information. In fact, the new 2008 Accord display requires just 17 degrees of driver eye movement - an improvement over the previous Accord. http://www.hondanews.com/categories/812/releases/4107 And the screen is larger at 8". The controls also look more confusing, with too many added buttons. Actually I only see 3 buttons, Cancel, Menu, Map/Guide and the joystick. All of the other buttons appear to be audio controls or climate controls. http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com//pictures/VEHICLE/2008/Ho- nda/2008.honda.accord.20151170-E.jpg Furthermore, Honda has improved the voice recognition software as follows: Improved voice recognition hardware. Expanded command dictionary of 745 total commands (up from 655). Voice recognition system recognizes city and street names as spoken words.
