What is this discussion about? Honda Accord, Coupe, Sedan

First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Sedan - The '08 Accord strikes a familiar balance of performance, value and efficiency. But this time it's not bland. (more)

First Drive: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe - An oddly sexy Honda Accord with the heart of, well, a Honda Accord. (more)

Full Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 - At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3 mph. (more)

Long-Term Test: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 - With every new generation of a vehicle as popular as this, questions are raised, even more so in a segment as fiercely competitive as the family sedan market. Has Honda gone too far in an effort to spice up its volume offering, aspired to too much sophistication? (more)

All good looking Hondas/Acuras, but I'd have to agree with the original post if it's directed at the last gen Accord (both versions) and the current CR-V.

interesting, thanks robertsmx!

they make the same power though, which is even more interesting. I wonder what i vtec could have done for power had it been applied to the coupe's v-6. (probably not much for economy though.)

anyone read that motortrend article? they said the camry was better in the twisties.

from the specs, it seems that the camry se offers mostly trim upgrades such as the interior and body kit...but the suspension itself is only slightly stiffer springs and shocks...so i don't see how this translates into a car thats more eager to take the twisties, when a camry xle with alloys is uber spongy and UN willing.

motortrend trying to justify why it won car of the year maybe?.....i try not to pay attention to them anymore.

The S2k and NSX are just so hard on the eyes. :/

Oh please....2 stylish vehicles over the past 15 years (maybe 3 if you count the Civic, which either you love or hate, so it does not count) You cannot say that the Honda lineup as a whole is very stylish. Honda is a conservative company, it is not a secret. Think what you may. But, seriously, the Accord has been very boring for way too long. Kudos Honda for making something that you can enjoy with your eyes!

P.S. I am not counting Acura, because the Hondas are no where near the style of Acura.

In fairness to the Motor Trend article, they didn't give the Camry a 'win' in handling. In fact they didn't the Camry a win in anything...

To me the new Accord looks great. The interior with the 'wood' looks upscale, the dark interior looks a little cramped. I sincerely hope they bring out a v6 6-speed manual with the lighter interior, the '06 and '07 could only be got with the manual with the darker treatment I think.

Exterior looks fine although it matters less to me than how the car feels inside.

I am not sure that I (personally) really needed the Accord to get bigger, I had never seen its size as a disadvantage. I guess that extra space without a mileage or handling penalty would be a good thing, I just like being able to get into any parking space without having to worry.

My .02c.

According to the specs out today, the 2008 Accord sedan is now considered full-size by the EPA, up from mid-size.

But the new Accord coupe is now classified as compact, down from mid-size.

The Coupe is larger outside this year, but smaller inside and has less trunk space.

Do people care? The new coupe is a great looking vehicle.

really? where did you find out that its classified as a compact? surely it can't be that much smaller?

i think the fact that its roomier, with no penalty to performance, or mpg with the added safety is a major plus.

You cannot say that the Honda lineup as a whole is very stylish.

You are correct. But I can't say that about ANY car company anywhere near this class.

true.

but i don't look at honda as un-stylish.

there are a lot of stylish things that are conservative in nature.

but the new civic, and now accord, are great looking cars. the element is very different, the fit is cute and the crv and pilot are handsome looking suv's. the ridgeline is a great looking truck too, and whats not to like about the s2k?

thats stylish enough for me. and it accomplishes all this without the clown nose look that so many automakers (ahem toyota, mazda) are starting to slap on the faces of their cars.

Actually 2007 Accord coupe is classified as compact so nothing has changed there. The interior volume of 2008 is just a bit larger than 2007 but the trunk space is a bit smaller.

I don't get having two 4-cylinder choices. I'm hoping they drop the weaker one soon enough, perhaps when they bring in the diesel. Why would I even care? I don't know, I just dislike configuration complexity.

Too bad it grew. I think the 07 is the perfect size, but I guess I expected it. It was very refreshing when Nissan actually shrunk the Altima.

I'm a little sketchy on the cylinder deactivation. Will the on-off-on cycles be undetectable?

I'm looking forward to a more thorough drive session from the magazines. Will it be faster than the other two?
