Have many problems with fuel milage, squelching radio, hard shifting when in tow mode mainly when it down shifts if were on icy road would cause a skid out of controll sitchuation, early oil change indication , leaky rear window only on ocassion, and no start several times pluss other minor things and all I get from dealer is cant duplicate problems so dont attempt to fix other than reflsh computer which I find is only a temporary fix for most problems.they wouldnt even replace the radio they made me go buy a new one how messed up is that. if any one has any solutions please write Dan Springfield Oregon

Hello, I have a new 2007 3500 with the 6.7 diesel. I have been very happy so far, although I only have 1700 miles and the "oil change required" light is on. Dealer service acted like they have never seen this. Scheduled it to go in 2 days from now. Why is this light on after 1700 miles...and is this just a programming error? I am wondering after all of the problems I am reading about on these posts??? JR- Portland, OR

Dan, I have the exact same vehicle, I have experienced bad fuel mileage untill I installed a superchip and it went from 11mpg to 14.5 mpg. Tons of damn power but watch your particulate filter, You can not tow in "extreme mode. It just flat out flys now, "unbeleiveable power". Since we have the same trcuk you can utilize my superchip and save 280 dollars. My truck also shifts hard in tow mode and I have not brought it to the shop yet but I will and let you know. The oil change indicator is only a "reminder" to get your oil changed and it is activated by mileage. To clear you turn key on,dont start , and depress accelerator three times all way to floor. It should clear or do again. Remember it is just a reminder so dont freak bro.. I have not experienced a squelch in my radio though so no help, sorry. I paid 600 dollars for superchip and we can trade back and forth cause it is AWESOME. Good luck bro. This truck has its quirks but hang in there and it will be good. I did not like mine either untill I did a couple things and now I love it. I have done my research on all of this truck. Good luck bro and I have a great dealer in Grants Pass,or if you need..Bye for now..Jon, Cave Junction, Oregon

Jon,
Thanks for the info on the oil change light, it worked. I've heard a little about the super chip. What's the scoop with it? I am getting 13-14 mpg now but would love to get it better. Haven't had the hard shift issue yet, only 2400 miles on the odometer though. I will be towing a 26 ft trailer to elk camp in eastern OR this week so I will see. Got a call from the dealer stating my truck needs to come in for a reprogramming, something about burning off the soot/particulates quicker thus keeping the system cleaner.

I own a 07 Dodge Ram 3500 6.7 I have not had any transmission trouble, however a around 5k miles the check engine light came on and the truck ran badly. I made it to the dealer in Washington and they found it to be the EGR valve needed replaced. They re programmed the computer and away we went. Yesterday the light came on again. Now in Coos Bay Or, We are staying about 2 miles from the dealership I took it in and they say its a oxygen sensor, they don't have the parts and it will be a couple of weeks before they can put them in and re program the computer. The truck has 6,900 miles on it .

Guys
I was wondering if you can help me? I live in Australia and am looking at importing a second hand 2500 Diesel Mega Cab, and want to know a few things as I was set on it but on hearing some of the problems am not so sure now.
firstly would you reccomend this truck bearing in mind all of the problems that it seems to have ? and also the fuel economy ( or lack of it ) in real terms what is it as I have seen some of the mails on this forum saying that they are getting 10mpg or 14mpg at best is this normal ? as I read from Dodge ( of course) that it did 21mpg
I really would be grateful as I am talking about a lot of money here as i have to get it converted from left to right hand drive plus all my taxes and import charges, so i really would be grateful for the guidence.
Thanks

I have a 2007 Ram 3500 Mega cab with the 6.7L/ 6 speed, which I just started towing a 36 ft 5th wheel. I never used the tow/haul up to now because I didn't think I needed it. The transmission shifted very hard without towing anything and I wasn't very happy with the transmission. The first time I tried to tow my trailer the transmission downshifted so hard I quit using the tow/haul feature. In normal mode it still shifts hard, but it is a least driveable. I took it to the dealer to have the emission control recall completed and asked about the transmission issue. The service manager told me that if I was having problems with the transmission shifting while towing a trailer, that I should come back with the trailer and they would test drive it that way. They completed the recall item and I was asked if I wanted to have the oil changed because the reminder on the computer was on. I said "no thanks" and then told me that that reminder was actually a sensor that detected the oil viscosity and I really should get the oil changed. That is really good technology if they now have a viscosity measurement device hooked up to the computer. I was also told that they could not find anything wrong with the transmission (maybe related to the fact I didn't get the inflated oil change completed). Anyway, the next time I was towing the trailer I tried the tow/haul feature again thinking that maybe the emission control recall fix might have changed something. Result was still the same. I am very new at pulling a 5th wheel trailer, but the downshift is so hard and jerks the trailer so much, it scares me to use it anymore. I am not really thrilled at the idea of dragging my 36 ft trailer all the way to the dealership just to have them say, 'sorry we don't know what is wrong'. If anyone hears of what the fix is let me know. I am really happy with the truck (cummins works fine) and plan on keeping it for many years in my retirement.

Hi to all maybe some help. I have a 2007 mega cab with 6.7 diesel and 6 speed auto . I have had several small problems and some bigger, the first was radio allways squelched but dealer could never duplicate .After several atempts I finally replaced it my self and fixed the problem at my expense.the bigger problem is milage. At first got 16-18 mpg and after 1000 miles started to drop to 10 on hwy 3.9 pulling 7000 pound trailer on flat ground .fix was reflash computer but that was only temporary comes back. Now the injection pump is leaking and they say it could be weeks before they can get one but go ahead and drive it the way it is wont hurt anything. Alright but then ween asked to in wrighting give me signed docs that if this causes any problems it is covered they said no they wont you are on your own.B.S.So I called Chrysler1-800-992-1997 and they baisically told me to stick it. if vehicle is drivable then If I drove it and it caused a problem that was my problem so I asked for a rental she said no it is drivable but dont drive it or I am at fault if it causes damage.? so I say this is a problem I have a 50,000.00 truck that is worth less her reply well sir you shouldnt have baught a Dodge. so have a nice Day . B.S . what shoul;d I do and what could fix this. I just want a good truck that gets usable mpg . I asked if dont have parts for weeks then give me a new truck or buy it back please help . Dan. Oregon
