2007 DODGE 2500 6 SPEED TRANS by hobb35

Im having all kinds of issues with my 2007 dodge 2500 cummins with a 6 speed automatic transmission. The service center at the dealership started to admit there were problems but then after having my truck for a few days came back to me and said that chrysler claims these are normal sounds and reactions. I have taken it in on three separate occasions and they are saying that they will not do any more for me. What advice can someone give me? Has anyone else had these types of problems? Specifically, clunking noises in the transmission when first accelerating and also decelerating. Grinding and shimmying affects when accelerating in first gear. Please give me any advice or information you have and how to go about this to get further assistance from chrysler. THIS IS NOT NORMAL>.

I have one of the new 6.7 liter diesels and am only getting 11 mpg on highway and 10 mpg in city. I have changed out the filter 3 times and I only have 11,000 miles on her. I experienced severe trouble with 3,000 miles on her as the ETC light came on, engine ran really rough and then it died. I could not get it started untill I cycled the ignition(key) back to off, waited and then it started. I have had this trouble three times and then sometimes my truck just will not start and I crank it so it throws a code but it just will not throw a code. I have done the ignition key trick which you mentioned but to no avail. It does not seem to work. Thank you

I had a virtually identical problem with my new 6.7. I had it towed to the dealer and have been advised that the computer will have to be re-flashed and that a new particulate filter will have to be installed. I hope to have the truck back next Monday. Apparently, this is a known problem with some of the early production 6.7 engines. Hope this helps.

I have one of the new 6.7 liter diesels and am only getting 13 mpg on highway and 10 mpg in city. The 6 speed auto is a nice option but it is not perfect. With the exhaust brake on and tow haul engaged it makes an incredible loud bag ( Feels like the transmission is going to rip out of the truck ) when I come to a stop. Dealer called 5 star support about this problem. Apparently I am not the first one to complain because they are working on a re-flash for the computer. On another bright note ocasionally the truck will not start. The truck will turn over but not start. After 15 to 20 start cycles it will fire like nothing was wrong. This problem has happened 7 times to me so far. I have brought to the dealer two times to have this problem corrected. Truck is not showing any codes and the dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem. My truck now has 5600 miles on it.

I am having issues with the 6.7L engine and transmission as well. The oil change required light randomly lights up and has to be reset, and it is hard starting compared to my old Ford power stroke diesel. The transmission though has me worried. If we use the truck in tow haul mode, (We often do, we bought it to tow the RV.) The transmission starts making loud clunking sounds which one can feel in the cab. When we switch out tow haul we continue to get the clunks, until the transmission is rebooted and reprogrammed for learn mode. The dealer says this is an issue that they cannot repair until Chrysler develops a flash that fixes it. I have spoken to Chrysler and they have no eta for the fix. I got the impression that they really were in hurry to fix the problem, and really did not care if it ever gets fixed. The Dealer service department told me not to worry about it, the problem is there; but it will not hurt anything. (I am thinking it might be time to start looking at other trucks, towing 10K pounds on mountain roads with a defective transmission does not sound smart to me.) Chrysler really needs to step up to the plate on this one, they told me to quit calling them and work with the dealer instead. I for once in my life feel sorry for the dealer. I wish he would have disclosed the problem before I threw all that money down for the truck.

Have many problems with fuel milage, squelching radio, hard shifting when in tow mode mainly when it down shifts if were on icy road would cause a skid out of controll sitchuation, early oil change indication , leaky rear window only on ocassion, and no start several times pluss other minor things and all I get from dealer is cant duplicate problems so dont attempt to fix other than reflsh computer which I find is only a temporary fix for most problems.they wouldnt even replace the radio they made me go buy a new one how messed up is that. if any one has any solutions please write Dan Springfield Oregon

Hello, I have a new 2007 3500 with the 6.7 diesel. I have been very happy so far, although I only have 1700 miles and the "oil change required" light is on. Dealer service acted like they have never seen this. Scheduled it to go in 2 days from now. Why is this light on after 1700 miles...and is this just a programming error? I am wondering after all of the problems I am reading about on these posts??? JR- Portland, OR

Dan, I have the exact same vehicle, I have experienced bad fuel mileage untill I installed a superchip and it went from 11mpg to 14.5 mpg. Tons of damn power but watch your particulate filter, You can not tow in "extreme mode. It just flat out flys now, "unbeleiveable power". Since we have the same trcuk you can utilize my superchip and save 280 dollars. My truck also shifts hard in tow mode and I have not brought it to the shop yet but I will and let you know. The oil change indicator is only a "reminder" to get your oil changed and it is activated by mileage. To clear you turn key on,dont start , and depress accelerator three times all way to floor. It should clear or do again. Remember it is just a reminder so dont freak bro.. I have not experienced a squelch in my radio though so no help, sorry. I paid 600 dollars for superchip and we can trade back and forth cause it is AWESOME. Good luck bro. This truck has its quirks but hang in there and it will be good. I did not like mine either untill I did a couple things and now I love it. I have done my research on all of this truck. Good luck bro and I have a great dealer in Grants Pass,or if you need..Bye for now..Jon, Cave Junction, Oregon
