Follow the money - dealers are hurting in the service department because cars run better than they used to. So they try to up sell you on stuff that the owner's manual doesn't recommend. It even happens to Edmunds with our fleet cars:

My dealership offered the first oil change for free - at 3000 miles. I'll probably take them up on the offer, based on my driving habits. After that, they'll only see me for recalls. Ladyblue
