Is your Maxx making a strange noise that you can't quite figure out? This is the place to begin your quest for a solution!
I have a 2007 Malibu Maxx SS that I recently bought with about 300 miles on it. It was in service 9 months ago but has been in various auctions. I'm very happy with it so far, but there is a problem. A serious rattle from the front dash/window at 40-80 mph. It comes and goes but it is quite noticible. Of course it is under warranty and I plan to take it in, but if you have particular suggestions or advice, that would be great.

In the past, several members complained of a noise (rattle) in the windsheild area. It was found to be the black plastic grill covering the the windsheild area fresh air intake. Some had found that it had warped in the passenger side corner and lifed up a bit, causing the wind at driving speeds to make it vibrate and hit the body in that area. Making a rattling or tapping noise. It was covered under warranty. Check to make sure yours is flat and not raised up at all. Hope this solves your problem, have a great day!

| I think the annoying fluttering rattle coming from the ventilation area of my Malibu Maxx is solved. I have two 2006 Malibu Maxxs, both had the rattle. Following Popodolis suggestion I checked under the hood and noted that just under the rubber molding that seals the windshield end of the hood there is a joint in the plastic enclosure for the air system. About two feet in from each fender the plastic showed an opening that was wider than the rest of the joint. For a temporary fix I just took a piece of 2" wide plastic tape that you seal boxes with and covered the joint opening at the point where it seemed to have opened up. Went for a test drive. Voila, no more rattle. When my temporary fix loosens up I'll probably just run a bead of silicone down the joint to seal it. Thanks Popodolis. | |
Sorry I mispelled your name popadopolis. My brain doesn't stay attached to my keyboard. But I still thank you.

| I still have the rattle, I'll have to try that fix. | |
| I thought I had cured my rattle on my two 2006 Maxxs but they came back but the tape I put on quieted them down considerably. I guess I'll have to get to the dealer for a cure. | |
