I have a 1999 GL jetta with a 2.0 4 cylinder. It only has 61k miles on. Do you think its worth to put a vr6 engine in?

noooo, too much of a hassle, save your money and build on the 2.0 i think. if you're wanting performance, i would'nt spend it on a vr swap. only because 90 1.8 8v can handle better and take 2.0's, vr6's, g60's around the twisties. plus with the low mileage i mean its still being broken in ya know. but i mean, do what ya please...that's my opinion...plus you weigh so much less.

here's a few places...

www.vwvortex.com
www.tmtuning.com
www.parts4vws.com
www.vividwonders.com
www.eurosportacc.com

those are the places i've gotten a lot of parts from for building on my projects over the years and have had nothing but great service. try to stay away from ebay while buying parts...i mean i know the prices may look good on things but trust me you want your vw to stay reliable, i'd stay away. if you haven't already been to vwvortex, that's a great site for refrences with a lot of people that know their stuff.

as for what you can do, there are so many ways you can take it. what kind of build are you looking to do?

I have a 99GLS 2.0 w/107K, and my good freind has a 99GLS 2.0 w/165K!!!
Your car w/61K has a lot of life left IF you take care of it/VW specs.
By the way, if you have not thought about a timing belt and water pump replacement, you probably should before you modify.
Most posters here that are unhappy with the Jetta usually didn't read the VW recommended maintenace plan.
