This is approximately twice the recommended distance for service & certainly far past a safe distance for a periodic oil level check. It would not be at all unusual for an engine to consume sufficient oil in that distance to run the crankcase oil level below the safe minimum. I'm not surprised that Hyundai refused the warranty claim.
