Comparison Test: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX vs. 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 - Although the Subaru's 5.9-second 0-60 time is two ticks better than the Mazda's 6.1-second clocking, it's all due to its traction advantage at launch. By the end of the quarter-mile, the two cars are dead even at 14.5 seconds and the Mazdaspeed 3 is going 98.7 mph compared to the WRX at 94.4 mph. Considering the difference in power ratings, none of this is surprising. (more)

Replying to: aviboy97 (Dec 27, 2007 11:46 am) The Impreza and Legacy platforms are not identical. same –adjective 1. identical with what is about to be or has just been mentioned: This street is the same one we were on yesterday. 2. being one or identical though having different names, aspects, etc.: These are the same rules though differently worded. 3. agreeing in kind, amount, etc.; corresponding: two boxes of the same dimensions. 4. unchanged in character, condition, etc.: It's the same town after all these years.

In reality, the Mazda3/Mazdaspeed3 share a similar platform to the Focus/S40, just like the Impreza and Legacy have a similar platform. Yes?

We could say that the Mazda3/Focus/S40 "share" a platform. I don't think it would be correct to say the Impreza and Legacy "share" a platform. Does this work?
