1 Week Old And Very Unsatisfied! by stordi

I just purchased a 2008 black MKX fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. I have 300 miles on it now. The overall craftsmanship of the vehicle is terrible. I had a 1/8" high, 4" long, 1/8" wide blemish on the dashboard. The dealer "fixed" it by cutting and melting the spot. Now I have a spot that's 3" square on my dashboard right in eye sight that's shiny, discolored, and flat not textured like the rest of the dash. The dealer says that's all they can do for me. I escalated this to Ford and they said they can't help me as this doesn't affect the driving of the vehicle. The black paint is horrible. Swirl marks and light scratches all throughout the vehicle. The dealer "buffed" it and the majority of them are still there. I was told by the dealer that all black cars are going to have swirl marks in them. I replied for him to walk over to my 2008 328XI Black BMW and show me swirl marks in that black paint. He replied that Ford black paint is not a good quality paint and I have to accept it. You would think that a company on the verge of bankruptcy would take care of ALL customer quality complaints. Unfortunately, nothing has changed at Ford. They don't care. I will NEVER buy another American made vehicle as long as I live. I was going to buy either a Lexus or BMW and went with the Lincoln to "Buy American". Ford wonders why they are LOSING market share. Well, here is a prime example why. I love my BMW and regret purchasing this Lincoln. What a waste of money. Three years from now I will trade this "Quality American Made Vehicle" in and purchase a REAL QUALITY FOREIGN MADE VEHICLE! FORD, YOU LOST A 3 YEAR NEW VEHICLE PURCHASER FOR LIFE! GO BANKRUPT FOR ALL I CARE!

That is a dealer problem, not a Ford problem. I understand that the dealer represents Ford but Ford has very little power over the dealers. Hopefully the economy will get rid of the bad dealers faster.

Take it to another dealer and I'm sure they'll replace the dash under warranty. And the scratches and swirl marks came from the dealer washing the vehicle before it was delivered - they don't leave the factory that way. Also sounds like they didn't know how to fix it, either.

No More Fords! by ok3moore

I took Ford to court and won my case! Ford has to repurchase my MKX. I will never ever buy Ford again, nor will my kids, future grand kids and their kids. I Hate Ford! It took 20 months fighting but it was well worth it. For all those unhappy MKX owners don't give up. We should not have to pay for something that is improperly built. It should be Fords problem not ours! :

Sorry to hear about any MKX owner who has to resort to the Lemon laws. I expect that every vehicle manufacturer has had a Lemon, so I wonder if any statistics are kept on the frequency. Also why is it that for the nearly identical Ford Edge, with more sales, and with its forum having twice the number of posts, there is only one post in 2008 that mentions "Lemon" and that was back in 2/08?

I myself posted my experience with a problem on our MKX back on 7/12/08. But after 14 months of ownership and roughly 21,000 miles, that isolated experience is fast fading against the overwhelming satisfaction from an otherwise flawless performance. We also continue to enjoy the comfort and still unique style of the MKX.

It does make you wonder, doesn't it? I think the dealers have a big part here - if you have a problem - even more than one - but the dealer is able to fix it promptly and accurately then it's forgotten. But if the dealer tries to fix it multiple times and fails (or worse, causes more problems) then it all gets blamed on Ford, which isn't fair. It's too bad that Ford doesn't have more control over it's dealer network.

FOG LIGHT HELP by dknyc1

I recently moved to a more rural area & the fog on my early morning (like 2:00 am) commute is horrible.

The factory fog lights really do nothing but light up... no help at all.

Wondering can I change the bulbs in the factory fog lights to something better or do I need to simply buy a new set of fog lights & bold on near the factory ones?

Thanks

I also have a 2008 MKX and it has been back 5 times for the brakes, 2 other times for transmission leaking (PTU) and a dead battery. They have machined all 4 rotors, replaced all 4 rotors & pads. Last trip they machined the rear rotors again. I agree too may problems too soon - car only has 10,500 miles on it. Decided to go through the Lemon Law. Will let you know the outcome.

Same here. My 2008 MKX has been back to the dealer 7 times; 5 for the brakes (they machined all 4 rotors, then replaced all 4 rotors, & pads - last visit they machined the rear rotors again), The transmission also was leaking - PTU 2 times, and a dead battery. Going through the Lemon Law now. How did you make out & what did you get as a replacement vehicle?

My case did not quality for the lemon law, the lawyer i spoke with said i woud win going to the BBB. I could not just sit on my hands. I filed a case aganist Ford through the BBB. I printed e-mails about my problems, articles and reviews. Every minor or major problem I took it to the shop (it was a hassel ) but you need some many days out of service. I did alot of research. I represented myself because the lawyer was not going through this nightmare and I was living it. My court case was a confrence call with a Ford representive. Ford insulted me, they were very rude and nasty just what I expected. I took my time and cross examined Ford ( they choked). The arbitraitor took a break for a test ride and she also had a professional take a look at it. Around 2 weeks later I got a letter from the BBB stating Ford had to by the vehicle back! It was a long and frustrating process but well worth it. I"m willing to help anyone who has been going through this nightmare with their MKX.
