Replying to: rcmpl (Jul 31, 2007 5:17 pm) I had this problem with a 1998 Hyundai Tiburon. It turned out that the rear disc brakes were missing a retention spring that holds the brake pad away from the disc. So when I hit a bump in the road the brake pad would slam into the disc and make a surprisingly loud clank! sound. Don't know if that applies to the Colbalt but its worth checking into and it's fairly cheap to fix.
