I am interested in buying a Veracruz, but I would like to have one for a day vs. a test drive with a salesperson on board. I read an article online recently about renting a car to really try it out, without the sales person attached to my hip in the vehicle. Does anyone know if 1) the Hyundai dealership would actually let me take the vehicle home for a day; or 2) are there any rental companies that have the Veracruz to rent. I've looked online but haven't found one yet and I don't want to start calling every major rental chain in town. I live in Austin TX.

Replying to: austx37 (Jul 26, 2007 2:11 pm) I am not sure about Hyundai, but I have been in the market for a new SUV for a few months now and I have taken out an Audi Q7, an Infiniti QX56, and a Mazda Cx-9 for full day test drives. All you have to do is ask. If the dealer feels that you are a serious buyer, they should be able to accomodate you. What are you driving now? In my case, I drive a BMW X5, my reasoning with Audi was that the Q7 is a direct competitor to the X5. With the QX was that I was not sure I wanted to drive such a big SUV and wanted to test it in real world driving, and with the CX-9 was that I was coming from a premium SUV and I was not sure that I wanted to trade-down. All three dealerships were happy to accomodate me and facilitated the extended drive. In the end, I ordered a Q7; completely sure that I had decided on the truck that best suited my needs. And, in no small part, because I had the opportunity to drive all three trucks more than just around the block. Good luck! j. |
