regarding the 328i? I actually own one. The car is totally awesome. Except for acceleration from stop, the 328i can do absolutely everything a 335i can do, except break down because it doesn't have the twin-turbo high pressure fuel pump. So what's the problem some of you have with the 328i? Read C & D's January 2008 comparo of $38k sport sedans. Not only did the 328i blow away the other vehicles, but C & D gave the 328i an amazingly rare perfect score of 25 in "fun to drive"; the 328i is an awesome vehicle. If there was no 335i, the 328i would still beat any other sport sedan in the $35- $40k range. The C & D comparo demonstrated that. For the money, there is no better to drive sport sedan. Sure glad I own one! As for the Saturn Aura, read what Edmunds had to say about it: you can start with the "numb steering."

You have to love the ethusiasm of some of these guys, and it always leads to running to C/D. I rest my case, I think I now know exactly what I wanted to know, why those noses are up in the air. Keep it up guys, glad you love you cars so much. As I told the graduate, I have no horses in the race, I was simply trying to plumb your minds, just to see what makes you tick. Its shocking. I am actually impressed with Aura and I meant everything I said, whole heartedly. I drive a Japanese car, 306 horses and fully loaded. Absolutely love it and if you ask me why I bought it, its certainly not because of what anyone said, and I dont need C/D to tell you why my car is great. I am out

Some funny comments here, not sure the personal insults and GM/American car slams are needed but whatever you need to make an argument. Some people aren't able to do it so I guess that's where it all goes. Having actually driven both (and back to back) I would agree the steering on the Aura is heavier. That said, I believe handling over all to be very similar though I may give the nod to the BMW. I have said all along the BMW does handle slightly better but not much. Highway driving I definitely give the nod to Aura, it's quieter inside and smoother. Bottom line, you have to decide whether a slightly better handling car is worth all the extra money. For most people who buy BMWs, prestige seems to be more important from the moms at school I see driving them. In Europe 3-series are just like Camrys here, everywhere. Around my neighborhood it's almost the same, An Aura XR almost looks unique and almost exotic by comparison. It's whatever turns your crank. I guess if you have the money go for it. I have the money but I know that investing it in my retirement account or my house is a better choice and I still get a 95% of the same car for thousands less. I also don't have to pay for BMW service. |
