The Honda is suppose to have intelligent grade control. The car is not suppose to speed up going down a hill.
I also noticed it is not listed as a feature on the 08.

Well, you may not notice it because you are looking for the wrong name for it. It is called "Grade Logic Control." It kicks in by downshifting after getting on the brakes while going downhill. Left to itself (coasting) it will stay in high gear.

yes i had the name wrong.here is honda's explanation of it. A search on their web pages says the 08 also has it. When I called the dealer the guy is service was not sure how it worked. I read this that it does it with no human intervention. Who knows mayb I'll get somebody else at the dealer when I call again
The Accord automatic transmission features Honda's Grade Logic Control system. This system differs from other computer-controlled shift programming because it can detect vehicle driving situations and then set appropriate shift points for the car. This feature avoids gear hunting on climbs and descents, and downshifts when appropriate for added engine braking.

i think thegraduate is correct. before bying my 07 SE I spoke to a guy at the dealership about Grade Logic and the way he explained it that the transmission will select a certain shift map based on the shift pattern. but for that to happen it has to detect a shift pattern and make a decision. i supose it will not shoft unless you brake at least once. after that it can make a desicion.
so, i would say, if it rolls down the hil it's ok as long as it starts keeping the lower gear after you applied the brakes.

btw i think a better way to roll downhill is on D3. espcially with this nice and light shift lever that does not require you to press the button...

Just curious, has anyone dared to see what their '07 will do on the top end? I don't know why Honda put a 160mph speedometer on the thing = that's pretty ridiculous.
But I guessing the V6 should be able to attain 130, but does anyone know?

Don't know if this car was tinkered with or not but it looks like he/she got up to 135. This was an 04 Accord but it should be close. Do a search on the subject. You can watch the video here.

I did try to search before posting but wasn't very successful. I'm guessing that car was probably stock. 04's had 240hp, right? Yea, don't think the extra 4 horses would push it to 140, though according to Wiki the engine was tweaked in 06 so who knows. 135 seems about right. I suppose Honda put the 160 speedo on it in case someone did want to tinker with it. Or maybe just because it looks impressive.

That should be pretty close to what the top speed is on an 07 too. I have only been up to 110mph on one occasion (passing two 18 wheelers on the interstate), and I don't think I will ever need to go faster than that. So if 110 was the limit, I would be content with that. Unlike the person in that video, I will never do it, just so see how high it will go.

I probably wouldn't try to find out either. It isn't I'm afraid to go that fast (providing conditions concerning road / weather / tires are all good), it's the getting arrested part that bothers me!

Yea, lol I think 135mph would get you more than just a speeding ticket.

The only use for the 160 speedo is on motorcycles.
