How did they fix the wind noise? And if you don't mind my asking, how do you know?

I don't know how they fixed it on the assembly line. Since I never had the noise, I really don't know where it was coming from. I've read that it was coming from the outside mirror. I've also read that Lexus dealers are installing laminated glass on earlier SWB's, but to me this is unfortunate because it simply masks the noise rather correcting the cause of it.

My LS 460 SWB was built in May. It does not have any wind noise whatsoever, you can hear a pin drop at highway speeds. Several other people who have similar recent builds have reported that they do not have any wind noise either. That's why I say they have "apparently" fixed it.

My car is dead silent as well and has a remarkable build quality. I've had the LS now on lease every 3 years since 1995, driven about 300K miles in them, and this one is the best built and quietest car of them all and easily the most luxurious. It's also the most frugal as I just got 27.5mpg on pure highway (local area, not a long I95 type trip where I'd bet it gets closer to 29 or 30mpg) and am averaging about 21 mpg in combo driving. I'm also noticing the mileage improve as the car gets broken in. This is also the best AC I've ever had in a car and the Mark Levinson is off the charts. I'm not even looking at anything but the LX570 when my GX lease ends next December (2008). That's the LS in SUV version. I just hope they have improved the gas mileage to the high teens.

In 12 years of driving Lexus cars over 500K miles I've still never had anything but routine service done and I stretch out the service to 7-10K miles.

I also had the unfortunate experience of a deer hit. She actually ran into the driver side of my car after emerginng from a bushy area. I was driving at 45mph at the time and I could hear her hit the side pretty loud. I expected the worst but after inspecting the car real closely there wasn't a mark on it. I hope the deer is OK. She must have turned abruptly and the car must have just sideswiped her. But If I hadn't heard the noise I'd never have known anything happened by the car's look. My wife was out there with a magnifying glass in the sun the next morning and also couldn't find a thing.

As for changes - I'd say almost nothing except adding memory passenger seating.

ljflx: What do you know about the "missing" passenger seat memory? It's overdue since the ES and GS have had it for a year or two. My dealer says they forgot! it on the 2007.

I don't know. I'm just surmising that it will be on the 2008 LS as it's the only thing that is really absent on the car.

I guess I am in the minority wanting a bit more room in the driver's cockpit. It seems to me Lexus has expanded the passenger comfort at the expense of the most important person, the driver (me). I definitely have more space in my LS 430. Also, the visability could be improved, and the gas mileage. Still, I am going to buy one, after I get my LX 570, what a vehicle!

From what I've read, the base prices for both the LS460 and LS460L will rise $500 for the 2008 models. The only change for the LS460 will be the addition of one color, "opaline pearl". The 460L will offer a new air suspension package including 19" 5 spoke alloy wheels with 245/45R19 all season tires, variable gear ratio steering and adaptive variable air suspension.

Ordering the 2008 this afternoon by cyclone4

I am heading to my dealer this afternoon to order the 2008 LS460L. It will be a special order since I want the 18 cubic foot trunk. In other words, I am not ordering it with the rear seat upgrade. However, I am getting everything else. This includes the the pre-collision system, radar cruise, self parking feature (I enjoy gadgets), Lexus Link, Mark Levinson audio, and adaptive variable air suspension with variable gear ratio steering.

I had originally ordered the LS600HL, but I was turned off by the EPA gas mileage estimate of 20/22 and I canceled the order. Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking. If I can afford to buy this car, why would I care about gas mileage. It is the principal of the thing. I cannot be driving a so called hybrid that only gets 20/22 mpg. Maybe a few years from now when the Lithium-Ion battery is perfected, I will go hybrid.

ljflx, how have you been? I have not communicated with you for a long time. There has not been much going in recent months. That is an amazing story you describe above about the deer hitting your beautiful LS and coming out of it without a scratch.
