Article comments for First Drive: 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero XWD - Saab says XWD should be pronounced "Cross-Wheel Drive." It hardly rolls off the tongue, but this fourth-generation Haldex-engineered system breaks some new ground. (more)

I sure hope you are right because that would be a very cool feature. -Rocky P.S. Thanks for the link bons. If you see anything more related to this wonderful car please post it ASAP. |

I was just informed by my SAAB dealer that the 9-3 XWD cars will not be available until the SECOND HALF of 2008. Meaning July or August 2008 at the earliest. Bummer Guess I'll just lease a 9-5 SportCombi Aero until that time.

I think it's great that my favorite car of all time (I've had four 9-3's/900's) is getting a power boost & maybe XWD. I find it thoroughly disappointing that they took the best looking car on the road and made the front look like a cross between a BMW, and nissan, and a subaru. (so disappointed that I found myself looking at the 08 C-Class today, ugh) This is not pretty. I suppose I can live with the Nissan/BMW headlights. However, This new air dam is hideous; Please tell me it is only going to be on the low power models and not the Aero or "VIGGEN". PLEASE. With my '04 Aero convertible I felt they finally got it right; the design is flawless; the air dam low and a little scuffed, but absolutely clean and beautiful. If this is truly the new look of the front I will never go to the "Viggen" which I've prayed for - for years. I will keep my 2004 Aero for another year, and then go find a low mileage 2006 v-6 Convertible and hang it up from there. Please, GM, bring us the BLACK, the VIGGEN, the power and beauty we're hoping for. and soon! PS I suppose I'll have an 04 Aero Convertible for sale before long... cheers, wellsn |

But it looks like the '08 9-3 convertible pictured has body color side moldings. Reviewers always tend to cast aspersions on the quality of the material in Saab interiors. But people get into my 99 and sometimes say, oh, you got a new car? Saab interiors hold up well. (plus the 99-00 years had the best wood inserts on the dash.) I like a nice, functional, ergonomically cooperative interior which Saabs have been known for. It will be mighty hard to break my thrifty habit of taking advantage of Saab depreciation and buying used. But it could happen. Nice job, Saab. |
