No since it doesn't have that iPod/USB input. Only 09's have it. I'm sure the 09 has an updated head unit.

Auxiliary audio jack frequency by peterw2

Hello,

does anyone know the second frequency of Hyundai's Auxiliary Jack/FM Modulator (P/N U8550-00100)? The installation manuals says the "primary" setting is 88.3 MHz, which is occupied in Dubai, but there is a "secondary" frequency which is not mentioned. And the dealer is useless as always, he even denies such a kit exists.

thanks in advance.

Other Frequency of FM Modulator by rgerdes

I posted on 10/7/07 about the two frequency FM modulator, and that 88.3 is a frequency taken by a station here in Phoenix. I don't remember the other frequency by number, but it was lower than the dial on the radio allows you to go, so having the specific number isn't helpful. It just won't work. I still haven't found a solution, but keep thinking there must be a way to plug in my iPod.

Hi,
thanks for your reply. As a matter of fact, almost all car radios in the UAE go down to 87.4 MHz and frequencies below 88 are free as far as I can say, that's why I'm interested in the second setting.
I tried several external FM modulators that plug into the cigarette lighter, except one, they suck. The only one which works quite nicely is from Griffin, made for the SanDisk "Sansa View". It has a selectable transmitter range of 87.9 - 107.9 MHz, but unfortunately occupies the lighter socket.

I just checked my VeraCruz radio AM band, the lowest station is 87.5. While the paperwork that came with the FM modulator (I saved a copy and can send you a .pdf file if you want the installation instructions to it) only shows 88.3, I remember the device itself had two frequencies printed on it, and the other one was both lower than 88.3 and lower than my radio would go (87.5). Your radio may be different. I have the factory radio AM/FM/CD/MP3 with the Infinity Speakers...so maybe yours if it's different will go farther down the AM band and work with the FM modulator they sell. The other problem I remember with the Hyundai modulator and the aftermarket ones I tried (iTrip, etc) is that the receiving antenna on the car is at the very back on the roof...about as afar away as you can get from the sending device. That did not help reception and caused me to have the modulator take out by the dealer that installed it. Good luck.

Hello,
it seems I have the same radio, AM/FM/6CDchanger/MP3 and 8 Infinity speakers, but its range goes down to 87.4. Now it makes sense why the SanDisk modulator doesn't work properly, because the antenna is too far away, didn't figure out this one. However, the original Hyundai modulator should not be effected by the location of the antenna at the rear roof top, because it's directly tied into the antenna cable right behind the radio. Theoretically it has an antenna cable with a female plug, excepting the cable coming from the roof, and an extension which plugs into the radio. I will give it a try and install the Hyundai part, and if necessary I might try opening it and tuning it to a free frequency. I let you know how it works out.

I am interested in how that works. I found the Hyundai modulator didn't work any better than the aftermarket kind. The apple store here has one that has the ability to tune in to different frequencies; the Hyundai one just has the two settings and that's it. Do keep me posted on your results. Best of luck.
