As the title said.
Are you saying anything that performs well and has leather will be considered? how about Z350 then?

If Infiniti is so proud of the performance value why do they name M35 and M45 with "M" instead of I35 and I45?
Can somebody explains the M stands here for Infiniti, I know what it stands for BMW.

Yes, for the BMW it stands for many times to the shop. The one thing I agree with is the obsession of some of the Asian marques (Infiniti in particular) to mimic the BMW--the most egregious example using the "M" designation in their models.

Okay, let's leave it that.

The topic is the article comparing the 07 335i to the 08 G37. Let's try to keep that in mind.

"Even if BMW 335i made in Japan we wouldn't be able to buy it at the Infiniti G35 price, why? It doesn't share platform with lesser more common sibling cars (like Z350)."

This is complete nonsense. The 335i rides on a platform that's sold in convertible, coupe, wagon, and sedan form and also shares its platform and many of its parts with an SUV, a 2 seat roadster, and pretty run-of-the-mill 3 series hatchbacks with small 4 cylinder engines sold in Europe. Add up all the various flavors and the number of units they sell greatly exceeds the numbers of 350Zs, G sedans and coupes, and FX SUVs. I also suggest you take a cab ride in Germany and you'll soon lose any illusion that German luxury cars are strictly that.

The 335 costs more for a number of reasons: 1) people are willing to pay more for it; 2) higher labor costs, though this is somewhat offset by outsourcing to Eastern Europe; 3) BMWs have more options and are more customizable which increases manufacturing costs. If you talk to people from Germany, the expectation there is that people will order their cars exactly as they want them and are prepared to wait months for their vehicles.

Good luck!

This must take the crown as the silliest comment. So what exactly do 335i, 528i, etc. mean? The "i" can't possibly refer to fuel injection since every car made in the last 20 years or so has fuel injection. Must be latent Infiniti envy. Also we know the "35" part doesn't refer to engine size since the 335i has a 3.0 liter engine. Must be trying to play catch up with the old G35. For one-upmanship can we soon expect to see a BMW 339i? After all, higher numbers must be better.

Are you really suggesting that Inifiniti start naming all of its cars Infiniti Infiniti? I'm sure Major Major would then have to buy one.

I wish they would all stop the random combinations of letters and numbers and follow Porsche's lead and start naming their cars after distinguished things like sunglasses, peppers, and lizards.

"I go to pick up my highly anticipated G37 tomorrow and I will post another comment shortly thereafter (standby dougsilver), but I can assure you that the title of my post will NOT be "buyers remorse..."

Hey pbinteg99--did you pick up that G37 yet? If so, let us know what you think.

Hey guys. Well its day 3 of G37 ownership and I have to say that I've enjoyed every minute of it! Car is gorgeous like previously stated. And it definitely doesnt dissappoint in terms of performance! Total price was $43,750 and again it is fully loaded less the 4-wheel steering. I do have to admit that at times I will have to get the revs up a tad bit in 3rd gear to generate some good power but nothing near redline area; although I rarely find myself downshifting from 6th gear on the freeway to make the majority of lane changes. Great all around car with a very broad appeal factor with performance, amenities, and looks. Do yourself a favor and get this car over the 335 unless you're solely concerned with straight line performance. It met all of my expectations, and then some!

Congrats on your new purchase. I don't know what part of the country you are in (I'm in SoCal) but did your out-the-door price represent any savings from sticker?

Congrats on the car glad it met your expectations.

Haven't driven the G37, but everything I've read said it's better on the track but worse on the street. Since there is a zero chance I will take my cars to the track, for a Bimmer nut like me, what would make me switch? (To use an old line from now banned commercials: "I'd rather fight than switch"!)

Actually, I just read a "Road and Track" review today wich stated the exact opposite.

To paraphrase "...From a handling standpoint, the cars are equally footed running the same Bridgestone rubber. The G37 with its active rear steering was very stable in the slalom, making it possible to squeeze through the cones a tad quicker. Where the cars don't compare is on price. The G37 undercuts the German brand and, on top of that, offers more features and technology.

It's a simple choice, the 335i for the track, or the G37S for the Autobahn
."
