Let's ignore the messages you don't find believable and get back on track here. No need to get personal.

MT has some new videos of the G37 and 335i at Willow and the G comes out on top. "tick faster than the 335i lap after lap". Both are manuals, no auto vs maunual trickery.

Just go to Motor Trend and view the roadtests. For all of you who think the 335i will smoke a G37 think again....

Oh yeah, the 335i goes into it's predictable "limp-mode".

MT is probably using the same 335 without the oil cooler given to it by Infiniti. I'm dubious of any results they post.

G37 may be the better track vehicle, and that's really cool that's a great title for them to have, but BMW is the better and probably faster street vehicle. Even with Infiniti's new engine, they still can't beat "the King".

New video and Different car, same issue with limp-mode.

It's a simple choice, the 335i for the track, or the G37S for the Autobahn.

This new video would seem to put the G37 ahead of the 335i on the track as you have said. So then is the G ahead on the track as well as the Autobahn?

Maybe the Emporer(King) has no clothes...

BTW- They are both dynamic rides

C'mon people; "can't we're all just get along?!?!"

These cars are pretty level with one another in term of overall performance. The phrase like one will "smoke" the other is kinda of silly, IMO. How can a .2 or .5 sec. be THAT difference?

It depends on many environmental factors and the driver.
One day on my way back from Phili, I saw a 911turbo chasing an FX45. The 911 never caught up (at least from what I could see). It was drizzling outside.

PS. I actually do think of the people who drive the base 325i and 525i are ........well, different.

Do tell.

Handling precision & speed/power are entirely different things. BMW offers both, and more importantly the option to choose. Some of us choose the former for a variety of reasons.

If sheer power & 0-60 were the only criteria, I'd guess 90% of the BMW's sold on the continent are "different" by your definition. If it's good enough for them, I guess it's good enough for me.

It is true that I've seen the RX350 "smoke" a couple of unsuspecting drivers of certain various vehicles because, I don't know, maybe they're thinking it's an RX330(230 horses instead of 270 in the RX350), my RX350 included.

I have loved the G35 coupe since it debuted in
2003. I came close to getting one, but chickened out 'cause I wasn't ready to get back into a two door. But I may start to rethink this. When the lease is up on the RX,
I may seriously consider the G37. I'm liking
it lots so far from what I've read.

Well, to me, if you're buying a Bimmer for the performance part then you should get the right part,ie. the sport package. Because without it I highly doubt a 325i/525i can out handle a, say TL, which costs about the same as 325i or less than a 525i and has both sport and luxury aspects in it.

If you're buying it for luxury, then there's a whole lot of luxury packages you can get. If you're driving a base model 325i which doesn't even have leather...well, I don't know what you're buying it for???? The propeller???

Again, this is just my opinion. I know people buy cars for a whole lot of reasons, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I knew a friend who would like to get a MB C-class. He told the sales guy he didn't want heated seats, leather, and other options because he would like to keep the cost down. The sales guy told him people will not buy a used MB with no moonroof or heated seats because we are in the Mid-west.
I don't see why you want to get a stripped down MB because it's supposed to be luxury. I guess that's why someone called the C-class as "poor man's Mercedes".

Somebody mentioned Saab... by r34

I test drove a BMW 335i and a Saab 9-3 Aero on the same day. The 9-3 is a good car but the 335i is much better.

335i
- Of couse it is quicker.
- not much turbo lag.
- much better brake.
- more quiet (better noise insulation).
- better interior.
- better handling (the sales guy told me to do 70mph on a 30mph curve. It was fun. I think I could go higher).
- better resale value.

9-3 Aero
- more unique.
- higher safety rating (Gold vs Silver for the Bimmer).
- better leather seats (I didn't realize the 335i I test drove got leather seats).
- I like the joystick style air vent control.
- Much cheaper. It may be a better package than the 328i. After the 3000 incentive, you can get it nicely equipped for 31K.

If money is not a concern, I will get the 335i. The handling is amazing. When the Saab XWD came out, it may be a tougher decision (it is only 35K with AWD and 280hp. It will be cheaper after incentive). If Saab gives us the Black Turbo version (325hp+), that will be more interesting.
