| I live in London and recently saw an RS4 Cab on the showroom floor of a London dealer. i was blown away with the looks, though it was a great color choice. No one could tell me if it was going to be available in the States, however. Since i'm moving back to the States later this summer, I'm loving the prospect of this car as a replacement to my old M5. I know it's not for everyone and I suspect it also depends a great deal on where you live. In CA or FL it probably doesn't make much sense, but in the upper Midwest, I think it might be a great alternative to Porsches & M3's because of the quattro. It is a lot for an Audi and I suspect there won't be many discounts available, but I think the value will be based more on what you compare it to; compared to a Porsche CS4 Cab, it will be a great deal, but maybe next to the M3 Cab (old or new version) it will seem quite pricy and probably not worth it. | |

I don't think you could EVER compare this to a Porsche.. Audi RS4 NON-Convertible = 3950 lbs (conv add 200? lbs) im guessing.. Porsche C4S AWD weighs "only" 3250 lbs. Thats 700 lbs.. minimum difference.. Also, I like the RS4 but I think it is vastly overpriced. A BMW 335xi - is only 41k to start. so figure 45k with a few options. Add in a 31k Honda S2000 Convertible and your at the same price as the Audi with a few options. I think I would rather have the BMW and the Honda than just 1 Audi - not to mention that the Audi is 5-7mpg less fuel economy! 14 MPG city... what happened to VVT and OHC getting better fuel economy? A Corvette gets almost 20mpg with 420hp and a 6+ liter V8. Also, the bmw can be "chipped" to produce 380hp/400torque to the wheels! That would put it right on par with the Audi with 400 less lbs to move. Even IF the Audi is quicker I would be quite mad that a base 45k BMW just kept up with me when I spend nearly $75k on an Audi. This isn't a civic with a muffler beating me.. this is a BMW ... and you would have no recourse...

Replying to: graphikzking (Jul 05, 2007 6:19 am) BTW, have you driven the new 335xi? They don't have them here in the UK. I hear the motor is pretty sweet, but not sure about the 4wd system - always like the drive dynamics of the 3 series rwd.

Replying to: randamonium (Jul 05, 2007 9:09 am) Just to give you a quick background - Previous Cars: 2003 V6 Hyundai Tiburon GT (Auto) 2005 350z Convertible (Manual) I also test drove the NEW G35x Sedan in Automatic and let me tell you the BMW is the smoothest 300hp I have ever felt.. feels nothing like my friends Evo or the VQ motors from Nissan - I love the nissan motors.. but not the best for luxury.. It's very quite.. has great handling dynamics, although a little heavy.. it still is VERY quick and very enjoyable. I loved the new G35x but I'm in love with the 335xi - BTW it's also available in Manu or Auto - the Infiniti was only Auto for AWD. BMW 335xi and I wish I could test drive the 330/335Diesel - the 335 probably feels similar to the diesel if you put a performance chip in it.. but gets much better gas milage... Not sure of the diesel model number because we are underpriveledged on that end.. |
