What is this discussion about? Mercedes-Benz 350-Class, Sedan

Article comments for Full Test: 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport - This week, we managed to pry a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350 away from its press introduction in Portland, Oregon, and drove it all the way back to our offices in Santa Monica, California. What we learned on this 1,000-mile drive and after instrumented track testing shows us that Mercedes-Benz is serious about the C-Class' competition. (more)

Another Mercedes Boner by 6sptl

This is a vehicle that is outperformed by a FWD TL in every category, for a lot less money, plus, the TL is superbly more reliable. How long does Mercedes think a three pointed emblem automaticaly means a 10K premium for a car???? As other Mercedes vehicles it may sell well among those that have no inkling of automotive excellence, but will never sell to someone that test drives a car before he buys it. At least a 335 can justify its premium price.

Worse performer than old C350? by desmolicious

Unless Mercedes has been playing with the gear ratios, the new C350 will get worse gas mileage, less top end and poorer highway acceleration than the old C350. Why? Cuz it weighs a bit more, has same motor but worse aerodynamics. 0.3 vs 0.26

But the Acura TL is still FWD and still ugly. No thanks.

As for the 335, yes it is faster. How much faster do you need to go? 0-60 in 6.2 seconds is plenty fast for me.

While I would personally prefer the 3-series, my wife prefers the C-class. Any difference in handling is lost on her and she prefers the C-class ride and styling.

Hopefully the looks will stay fresh on this new styling direction. Mercedes styling seems perishible these days.
But they will never be as ugly or generic as an Acura, of course the'll never be quite as reliable either!

You have got to be joking. The TL is a tincan compared to the current C Class. The accord feels more solid than a TL. The Maxima is a better car. Quit wasting our time with this lame BS.

Um, this is a discussion specifically about the Edmunds article on the C350 Sport. Let's not waste anyone's time here on off-topic vehicles.

Oh my God. My wife wont be able to race a 335i on city streets because it's underpowered. Oooooooooooooh. Is it out of the question to consider that MB had no intention of trying to compete with the ugly BMW 335i with the 350 Sport?

Reviews are somtimes good, but this one's a joke by 500lbman

I sell Mercedes-Benz for a living. It is amazing how one sided a review can be. Reviewers ought to get second opinions that are objective before making a decree about a car.

The reviewer says that the new C-class package is ugly, but the overwhelming reaction to the sport package C300 and C350 is WOW! People love the new body, espacially the front end. The article also says the price is out of whack for the C350. This is complete nonsense. The C350's we have on our lot right now are all around $39k. At BMW, you will pay $37 or $38k for the 328i. People can't believe the value of the C350. The new C-class is much better than the old one, in every way. I drive them both everyday, so I know the differences.

I respect the opinions of the reviewer, and I understand that not everyone loves the new look of the car. But there is no way to deny the value of the car now compared to the old car. The old C-class was like driving a Toyota Corrola in some ways, the new one is a true Mercedes-Benz. M-B clients do not want a car that beats them up while driving. They want the perfect blend of comfort and sport, which is what they are getting with the new C-class.

I agree with 500lbman. The 2008 C350 Sport is a great looking car. I've never been a MB person but I'm seriously considering a C350 Sport.

I just test drive the C350 and found that indeed the pull is not that impressive. It feels like my Acura MDX where it kicks in slowly and painfully. When I tested the Lexus 350, it kicked in immediately and took me for a ride. Having said that, once at crusing speed, it responded nicely when I accelerate. The back seat is still cramp just like my CLK. MB built in grooves at the back of the driver seat so that the back passenger would have a tiny bit more leg room

One feature that I liked is the fold in mirror. That is always a good thing to have.
