Article comments for The Best BMW M3 Ever - It's also the end of something. We're saying good-bye to the E46 M3, the tightly shaped coupe with the inline-6. No other car has meant so much to guys who really care about cars and fast driving. (more)

Conversely, the E46 is a bit more expensive than I would prefer for a DD. A friend has an immaculate 35K mile Dakar II 1997 M3 which may prove to be the best option. Since it doesn't have a "real" ///M motor I wouldn't have to mess with valve adjustments either- I'd just have to worry about a VANOS unit going south... |

Get real. Based upon the reviews and looks of the thing, I'd actually vote this E92 M3 as the "WORST" M3 ever made. From its poor steering feel to its gas guzzling V8 to its macho-man looks. To think, I actually put a grand down to be on a waiting list for this car and have been anticipating it for years. What a big dissappointment. Joseph San Diego |

I love the critisims thrown out, especially by the last poster that voted it the Worst Ever. Based on what, your personal opinion on the looks? The reviews have been quite positive. Gas Guzzling V8? Virtually identical to the previous model with a lot more power to boot. V8 is actually lighter than the out going I6. Besides the power, braking, handling all being world class and better than previous models, some of you guys insist on bashing it because its not a pure track car. Doesn't have that white knuckle feel of the E30. Man I would hope not. This is 20 years later, I would hope they improved things a bit. Besides, how many people actually go out to the track. How many of the people complaining about this actually go out to the track? I bet a large majority of the haters never do anything but stop light to stop light with the occasional run up to 90 on the freeway, yet they see no reason to sell their E30, E36 or E46 cause the new E92 has a V8 and doesn't have that "connection". Well if the E92 ain't for you, it ain't for you. Don't like the bulge on the hood, hey I can respect that, but going around saying its the worst M3 in history dropping the same 1 liners in multiple MB threads that don't really hold up to scrutiny...come on, grow up a bit.
