I love the Saturn Aura because it has looks, power, and refinment. But if I don't want a Japanisse car then what other should I look at?
To me to Ford looks like a good choice but what do you think? The newest kid on the block is the Dodge Avenger but the only thing that really would make me like it is the awesome design and the cool cupholders. So give me your thoughts but I still like the Aura!

I love the looks of the Avenger too, and I am a long time Dodge fan. I have had my Aura XR for a couple of months now and love driving it more than anything, but my streetrod.
There isn't much difference between the Avenger and Aura XR technically speaking, and the prices are very close. I think the Aura (Cadillac) power train is better than the Dodges and the overall build is a little better too. So go drive them both then come back to the forum and tell us what you liked and disliked. I'd love to know how they match up.

Well first the only way to go with on both cars is top engine. The Aura has a lot more get go and both do a good job then older models (stratus,L300).But something in the aura is jest better and makes me feel more high quilty. But in a few years Dodge may be out of the rental car stigma!

So I just bought a Dodge Avenger R/T AWD and love it so far. When choosing the car I also test drove the Ford Fusion. For whatever possible good looks you think this car may have, it doesn't move. The reviewers aren't harsh enough. It requires absolute flooring when passing. The Fusion's interior, while not Taurus/"Fuddy Duddy" like is bland and boring. The only class is an analog clock, which they stole from Infiniti. To be fair the dodge isn't a speed demon, but I have never been short on power when I need it. I'm not sure how much you are willing to spend, but this car has plenty of neat options when fully loaded. The Mygig hard drive/navigation system is amazing. Dual tone leather makes it feel less cheap as well. I didn't test the Saturn but I hope this helps with the other cars.

Two years ago I had a Ford that lost its valve seats. Motors made in Mexico. Machine work is still not up to par. Too many management problems at Chrysler.

Too bad, because this has potential to be an interesting discussion.

That it does; three newcoming American cars which all hope to knock Toyonda off the throne. If Saturn had Fusion's ride/handling, or Ford had GM's power and interior style, they could really take the country by storm.

I think the Malibu and G6 Pontiac should be included since they are both on basically the same platform. I did see some minor differences in suspension components between models. When I test drove the 07 Malibu, it was lethargic and the 07 G6 was crisp, too crisp and rigid for my style of driving.
I know the 08 Malibu will be on the German chassis but wonder what Chevrolet will do the the spring and shock package.

I have not driven the Fusion but I doubt it could compare to the Aura XR in price/performance or quality of finish.
I just checked the Edmunds report... Too sad... Poor performance comfortable ride(?) Didn't like the Auto Trans... A 221 H-P V-6 that only brings 26 MPG Highway. Put the Fusion in the class of cars I would buy for my mother (rest her sole).
I wonder if the reason is too few ponies for the tonnage?

There that ought to get some thing going on this forum.
