I think the main reason they tune these VQs that way is to reduce stress on the drivetrain. Going from 270 to 300 tq would probably require an upgrade to the drivetrain while high RPM horsepower doesn't. Still, we're not suffering here like a Honda VTEC motor used to be! In a couple years I think the direct injection may help a little bit with a bit more power but not sure. Although, I bet the automatic isn't the problem, it's probably having more torque would over stress the clutch and shafts so they tune it for higher RPM, just my 2 cents.

The more I'm using the Palm Pre in the Infiniti, the more I am intending to agree with you. In fact, I may have to take advantage of the Sprint 30 day trial period and relinquish it.

I know I've considered giving my Pre back as well but decided not to as I really like the phone. If it didn't work at all well then maybe but I can tolerate the imperfect sound in the Infiniti rather than give the phone up totally. It would be even better to lead a REAL life and not worry about crap like this.
If you do decide to return it let me know and I will not torment you by advising you when the next software mod comes down the line and fixes the problem.

Agreed, but for $70-100/month, I want better quality reception than the Pre gives. Besides, I use the phone professionally a lot in the car, not to just chit chat and I need to hear more than every other word. I too liked the phone itself.

I turned it in today and went back to the iPhone. I did like Sprint's network and value much more compared to AT&T.

Cigarette lighter as power source by rdesman

I know the owners manual does not recommend the use of the lighter for powering things like radar detectors, etc but has anyone had any experience with doing so?
I just thought I would check before trying it and blowing my car up.

electric steering wheel by joj2

Has anyone noticed that the steering wheel on G37X exhibits slight play and does not lock in place securely? It will have to be pushed down to lock it in place.

It will be wise if you install the same diameter as the one originally installed because if you install a different diameter the TPMS will have to be calibrated and it will cost you a lot of money to do it twice a year.

The original post was about a year ago, so he's probably gone.

But, don't TPMS sensors read air pressure? If so, what difference does wheel diameter make? Just wondering.

Yes, the current ones use air pressure, so the diameter of the tire should make no difference (though it will throw off the speedometer).

Many of the first gen TPMSs detected low tire pressure by comparing the slightly different wheel rotation rates between a normally inflated tire and one that was underinflated.
