Infinity Stereo 10 speaker system by seppi

Hi, I am having difficulty locating the 10 speakers that KIA says I have with the Infinity 6-disc stereo system. This link, http://www.kia.com/rondo/rondo-features.php states that I should have 10 speakers and a subwoofer. So far, I have been only able to locate 7 speakers + the subwoofer on the dash. If anyone else has noticed this, what should we do about it? All the printed material that I have for the Rondo (the dealership brochure and the kia website, make reference to the 10 speakers). Help! Thanks in advance.

I count 9 - but including the subwoofer.
2 on each front door, one on each back door, and 2 in the rear (A round one on the side right, and I'm assuming that molded-in grille on the back left side next to the hatch is a speaker.)

Maybe the missing speakers will turn up somewhere unexpected, like the hidden vents under the seat...

Could it be in the dash? My Intrepid has 7 speakers (no subwoofer). 2 in each door, 2 in the rear, and one in the dash.

Actually I called Kia the other day and the reps. response was something like, "There are 10 speakers. Each front door contains two speakers each (two speakers in one case), plus the two tweeters. The rear doors each have one and there are two speakers in the third row".

I find it hard to believe, but what can you do when the rep. says there are 10 speakers, there must be 10 right??

If anyone else gets a better response, let us know.

Thanks.

No matter how many speakers this stereo system has, it is not great sounding.
Good thing I got the Premium package mainly for the sunroof, not the stereo system. I had noted from the reviews that the sound quality wasn't great, and they were right. Sound quality about the same as an FM clock radio – Okay maybe slightly better!

On the plus side, the 6 CD changer is a nice convenience, though loading discs is slow (the system prompts you through the loading so you have to watch the display) and probably not something you want to do while driving. The controls on the steering wheel for volume and track changes are also very handy.

On the minus side, besides the cheap sound quality, the settings are basic (bass, middle, treble, balance, fade) and rather coarse and don’t seem to result in much fine-tuning. The interface is not super intuitive, plus you have to be very quick adjusting a given setting since the display doesn't really allow you to pause to listen while adjusting and quickly reverts back to the default display and you have to scroll through all of them again in order to get back to the one you want. Or maybe I haven’t read the detailed instructions...The two-tiers of FM radio tuning seems fussy. Again, not something I want to be doing while driving.

I’m no acoustics or sound system specialist, but I’ve noticed most of the sound comes through the mid-dash subwoofer. I hardly hear anything from the other speakers. I’ve tweaked the settings to the best possible sound (to my ear anyway) and figure it is what it is.

Don’t get the Premium package for the stereo system alone since it’s not really worth it. The radios on my older cars have sounded much better. Still, it's hard to remember we're talking about a real budget-range vehicle here, given the other features seem to be a bonus for the price.

BTW – The only CD I’ve played that sounds decent is a Bob Marley CD.
Maybe the instrumentation & mixing is simple and just right for this basic player.

Agree on every point on your analysis of the premium stereo. My Hyundai Elantra, the Sedona I traded in and my 1988 Camry put the Rondo stereo to shame.

It's not horrible, it's just very mediocre

Wow! Why didn't I think of that? At least we can spell and make complete sentences. Just a little kidding back at you.

I have an EX with the Infinity package. 10 speakers? I can't find them! There is one speaker grill in the center dash, two in each front passenger door, one in each rear door and the sub woofer in the hatch area. I find seven speaker grills and one sub woofer. Somewhere there are three missing speakers. As far as sound quality, it is, ah - interesting. When I listen to my XM radio (mostly talk or sports), most of the sound comes out of the center dash speaker. When playing a CD - I'll use The Beatles Abbey Road as an example, the sound is superb. I found using the 'Jazz' pre-set gives the best balance of highs and bass. From track 13 on the music just floats around the vehicle. The reproduction and positioning of the sound is excellent. As with any music source, the reproduction will only be as good as the source. I also make certain that the balance and fader are set to the center point.

The bass is a bit weak, and probably should have been installed in the rear floor instead of the right inside fender area. I would really like to be able to annoy other drivers for a change with this cars bass rattling their cars for a change. At age 54, I would like a little payback!

My only complaint with the Infinity stereo head unit is that I find it very, very hard to actually see the display in the daytime unless direct sun light is hitting it. The contrast sucks. Has anyone actually looked at the amp under the drivers seat? Mine has a JBL label on it.

Has anyone else found the JBL label and has problems clearly seeing the display without having to stare at it at different angels or with direct sunlight on it? Overall I dive the Infinity Stereo two blown ear drums up, way up!
