Thanks for the reply. I tried the dial-no luck there. As for the sensor, all other nighttime lights come on, including dash lights, and the daytime running lights switch off. I am hoping that tells me the sensor is ok. That leaves the multifunction switch-is this what is called the dimmer switch at the parts store? I have not checked that yet, but plan to this weekend.

Check the headlight bulbs. I drove myself nuts on a problem like this only to find out that both right and left bulbs blew at the same time.
