Replying to: orbit9090 (Jun 13, 2007 5:09 am) With regard to the shifter/degradation issue, I'll repeat what I posted in the Staightline thread: I shied away from commemting on the Fit's shifter in the text of the article, partly because of the mileage issue. The comments you see on the specs page are the raw, uneditied feedback from the test driver who did the track testing. When the Fit finishes its long-term test, we'll address any degradation issues at that time. As for the Fit vs xD handling results, remember that these cars were track tested on the same day at the same track by the same driver. |

that while having a blunt nose makes you look 'substansial' it certainly wont win you any beauty awards. there is no real sexy car in this segment, but the fit is not boring, and is defintely better looking than the scion. again, i'm pissed that its sporting merits where downplayed....i think some edmunds staff DOES have it out for honda....remember the civic vs. mazda 3? a 7mpg advantage and softer ride on the civic didn't matter; because the 3 was just SOOO sporty. now suddenly cushiness and lower mpgs mean the world? wtf?!! consistency people!

I'm a proud owner of a 2007 Honda Fit, I admit its little lacking in power. But it seems there are many of aftermarket upgrades. Seem to solve the "few" complaints about the current Fit. But I stumbled across this... 2009 US Honda Fit . The Honda fit has been out in Japan since 2001 or so. And It seems its going to get a all around face lift. Looks like HONDA is improving the already superior FIT. Toyota/Scion will once again be in the dust of HONDA. But on this segment, I noticed the MAJOR down play on the Fit and its strong features. I also noticed if you read the fine print at the bottom of the article, Edmunds had to purchase the Fit Sport, but Scion provided a test xD. Talk about lining the pockets for a better result!!!! |

There are only two versions of the Fit. Base and Sport. The cars are identical. The only differences are aesthetic: ground effects and spoiler, alloy wheels/tires and some comical interior options. (The same am/fm/cd unit [w/wo mp3 capability], paddle shifters [109 hp paddle shifting what?!?], and an AUX audio input [i.e.$200 ipod cable]) Anyone buying a fit with value in mind would pass on the sport. In that case, the Scion is a waste of money. What's more, the Fit's interior in WAY classy. Very nicely done. The XD interior is clumsy and juvenile. In terms of design/ dashboard layout, economy of space was badly disrespected as a concept. I'm happy to drive the Fit. Literally. I get in the car and it's a joy to turn it on, to look at (inside and out), to be seen in and to operate. It's important to me that everything come together. Not just performance, or aesthetics, but everything. I bought my fit at 14,580 from Findlay Honda.

The Sport has a 200 watt 6-speaker system. • The Sport has cruise control; the base does not. You ask "What is it about the Fit Sport?" I wanted an economical car that I felt was attractive, and that had the options I needed (yes, the cruise control and AUX input are important to me). I think the Sport looks better than the base model - and I use my paddle shifters all the time

| I have owned my new Scion xD since September. I love the car. It has good acceleration and keeps up with traffic on the turnpike with ease. Until winter and the cold weather hit, it maintained a pretty steady 35 MPG. Now, it's about 32-33, depending on how much stop and go traffic we are in. Since the xD is basically listed as a commuter car, I don't know how many of you have tried the back seat belts. I have had 4 people in my car and the seat belt behind the driver is in the wrong place. We took the car back to the Toyota dealer and they even admitted the seat belt was in wrong but could do nothing about it unless Scion ordered a recall. We got in touch with Scion and after a few weeks, we were told that at the present time, there were no plans for a recall. The person sitting behind the driver has to clip their belt into the buckle that is there for the middle seat belt. Let's be realistic, there is never going to be 3 people sitting in the back seat of a Scion xD but there is a defect there and as far as I'm concerned, it should be taken care of by Scion. So, all xD owners, check your rear seat belts and see if they are positioned right or not. They are bolted in so you can't just flop them from one position to another. Other than that, love the car, and did right from the test drive. | |
