This is a 'devil's advocate' question. In general, the LaCrosse prices out a few thousand more than the Impala. Just wondering: what makes the Buick worth more than the Chevy? Input from Buick experts is invited.

Replying to: mark_wny (Jun 05, 2007 9:37 am) When I did my analysis in 2006 I had come up with Impala LTZ over Buick CXS (before test drives) as my next car. I was partial to the LaCrosses look but not the price difference. The Impala looks great too. Due to circumstances beyond my control. I missed the Chevy 0% financing by two days. The dealer I went to was also a Buick dealer. LaCrosse had the 0% financing. After a test drives I discovered a several differences. First, interior quality is higher in LaCrosse than Impala hands down. The material used is softer to the touch. Both interiors look high quality. Second, performance of 3.6L in CXS was very nice. Third, telescoping steering wheel and dual auto climate control. Fourth, there really is something to the quiet-tuning they advertise. Fifth, my insurance rates went down with purchase of Buick. Six, smooth ride was excellent. I know the CXS shares lots of drive train components with Gran Prix Comp G but has been softened a little for the Buick ride. Still a great handling family sedan. In 2007 I may have checked out the Super, but the AFM management features for fuel economy on the Impala LTZ is definately a factor in consideration. I have found the service in my two oil changes at two different dealerships to be more than satisfactory. The LaCrosse know has 12000 miles and averages 22 MPG combined for me. I am 36 and will definately look at all of GM domestic line up again when I make my next purchase. I would test drive both and keep your eyes on the incentives as well. If you are looking at base models the differences may be less pronounced. Good luck. If you do not have a GM card I would also consider Saturn Aura or wait for Pontiac G8 to come out for consideration. The redone Ford 500/Taurus with 3.5L 260 HP engine will be a competitive family sedan too. |
