Good evening. My husband is re-building my engine, and needs to know if anyone knows what order the short push rods and the long push rods go in. It is a 3.4L engine, V6. Also, if you know what the torque is on the rocker arms? I have a 2003, Buick, Renduvous. You can e-mail me at rlpedigo at yahoo dot com. Thank you very much

Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Installation

Tools Required
J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

Important: All gasket mating surfaces must be free of oil and foreign material. Use GM P/N 12346139 (Canadian P/N 10953463) or equivelant to clean surfaces.

Important: Do Not apply RTV sealer to the engine block before/prior to the installation of the manifold gaskets. RTV sealer is not to be placed under the lower intake manifold gaskets.

1- Install the lower intake manifold gaskets.

2- Coat the ends of the push rods using prelube GM P/N 1052367, (Canadian P/N 992869) or the equivalent.
Important: The intake valve push rods measure 146.0 mm (5.75 in) in length.

3- Install the push rods in their original location. The exhaust valve push rods measure 152.5 mm (6.0 in) in length.

4- Coat the rocker arm friction surfaces using prelube GM P/N 1052367, (Canadian P/N 992869) or the equivalent.
Important: Shims may be required under the valve rocker arm pedestals if reconditioning has been performed on the cylinder head or its components.

5- Install the valve rocker arms in their original positions.

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

6- Install the valve rocker arm bolts.

Tighten
Use the J 36660-A to tighten the valve rocker arm bolts to 14 N·m (124 lb in) plus 30 degrees.

Thank you so very much. We were guessing at the push rods, and got lucky and guessed them right. He already has the torque on them. He is going to torque the rocker arms tomorrow and will be at the point of replacing the injector "O" rings. Should have it done by the end of the day. Thank you again, very much, it is appreciated. HUGZZZ
