I had a hard time categorizing this because it covers so many areas. I have a 05 MPV and 3 kids, a 5 year old and twin boys almost a year. The easiest seating arrangement, obviously is the twins in the middle row and the oldest in the back. I think this is the way Mazda designed it with the LATCH in the mid-row not in rear. I have to scoot the driver seat up with car seats in 2nd row, I'm 6'1" and that becomes problamatic in many ways. One, overall comfort, my knees hit the dash, I lose the ability for any reclining, etc. Two, safety, I feel like I'm eating the steering wheel so I know that if there were to be an impact for air bag deployment I could be seriously injured. My only idea is to some how add track extensions to the 2nd row so I can push them back, since there's no leg room needed for the 3rd row, and I gain those few crucial inches needed while driving. I don't know if this have ever been done, or if it's even remotely possible. Does anyone else have this complaint or recommend anything else? No, I can't and won't put the car seats in the 3rd row, for multiple reasons: Too hard to crawl in and out to get the kids back there, there's no LATCH in the 3rd row and the shoulder harnesses can't get tight/sturdy enough, and 2nd row is the safest spot in this car. Thanks
