What is this discussion about? BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS 350, Sedan, Wagon

Article comments for Comparison Test: 2007 BMW 335i vs. 2007 Lexus IS 350 - When we matched these cars against each other in 2006, the newly redesigned 306-hp Lexus IS 350 ran away from the 255-hp BMW 330i with a quicker acceleration to 60 mph by more than a full second. On the other hand, that BMW outmaneuvered the Lexus in every objective and subjective handling category. (more)

He emailed me this "new deal" today...

I restructured the lease as follows:

36 months - 12K miles/year

MSRP: $37,500
Internet Price $35,800

Acq. fee: $625
Money Factor: .00170 (I left a little extra here because my finance ladies don't get any salary so this is how they pay their bills - which is why I reduced my price by $200)

Payment: $492.88 including tax
Drive-offs: $876.30

I am throwing in floor mats as well - if you would rather have the car discounted another $100 I can do that instead.

What do those have to do with the 2007 BMW 335i vs. 2007 Lexus IS 350 article?

Maybe the host can move those to the BMW 335i price paid board.

Maybe the host can shut down this forum with a "read only" label.

I mean, after all, how many more than 120 posts do we need about a several month old "article"? Talk about beating a dead horse, it was probably attracting flies after 30 posts.

And attracting posts that have no relation to the original topic...When somebody posted about the Saab, it was time to shut this down!

An unfair price comparison.... by sddoc07

Here's how you rig a value comparison for sports sedans. Take sedan A (your favorite) and give it the sportiest packages and dump the top-line navigation/technology package. Take sedan B (your least favorite) and load it up on everything EXCEPT with the words "sport" in it. Wallah! The BMW 3-series is actually a bargain! Surprise! Edmunds.com...welcome to the BMW fan club! Your seat is right next to Caranddriver...
Anyone can see what the real unbiased result of this comparo SHOULD have been...BMW 3-series, the better sports sedan (probably, although we didn't test it against the sportiest Lexus) but also the most expensive, as getting equivalent packages and options will definitely be more expensive than the Lexus (iDrive costs $2100 by itself!) Oh, and if you also check out our "True cost to own" in our OWN website, you will notice that the 3-series is projected to cost almost 10 GRAND MORE OVER FIVE YEARS TO OWN. Thank you for visiting Edmunds.com/insideline.

It won't cost more over 3 years to own, however. In other words, if you can lease the car (stay within the mileage) and use ED, BMW wins again!

We're going in circles again...

What if I want to BUY the car and really don't want to go to Europe (I have many other uses for my precious vacation times) to pick up the car?

Bottom line is that InsideLine screwed up this time. Why?

335i: sports package, no navigation or any other major options included.
IS350: non-sports package (Later in Edmunds' own IS250 test, it shows that the sports-tune suspension DOES increase the performance), $4000+ premium package, navigation AND Mark Levinson.

Fair comparison? I don't think so.
