Replying to: ornamentals (Feb 08, 2008 10:26 am) For the A/C issue (and I'm going to show my lack of knowledge on how stuff works here) I believe at least the compresser runs off the accessory belt. If that is binding up at times it could create the other things you are seeing ( I have heard on another vehicle of it actueely totally locking up and breaking the belt). I think the compresser runs when defrost is on, so you could try runing with defrost on and A/C off for a while to see if problem happens. If not maybe its a condensor issue (even though it was replaced).

In 2006 just before I was to take a trip to Texas my air conditioner went totally out. It cost me a whopping $2,000.00 (actually over) to repair. Now in 2008 I have NOTHING! No air, no heat - AND I LIVE IN CHICAGO! Can anyone help! My brother-in-law is a good mechanic and he needs a repair manual to fix this thing!.   Did anyone get the recall on the gas leak thing? My car will not pass inspection because the check engine light is on.

my air conditioner controll switch just stopped working I took it to the shop and they are telling me that It's the air conditioner head switch which cost $500.00 plus dollars to fix it , of course not covered in our Gold Coverage Warranty. Does anyone have any suggestions.

My 2003 pontiac aztek's a/c and heater fan control switch stopped working.I took it to shop and they said it was the a/c head switch, and it would cost $400 for part and around $100 for labor. I'm low on funds right now and was thinking about getting one from a junkyard. how hard is it to replace myself.
