When are the car companies going to realize that the overwhelming majority of folks buying an suv in America will never take it off pavement. OK....I once jumped a curb in an SUV. ..the new Touareg is called the Touareg 2? Seems strange that they would rename it that.. Or is this sort of like the New Jetta, or Jetta III, where it was just an importing thing?

Hose off the mud and get back on the highway for the cruise home or night on the town. I guess the question is - what does that do to fuel mileage. I think the article does address that somewhat with the coming 50-state-legal V6 Turbo-Diesel in 2009 which should have excellent MPG #s. Thanks for mentioning that. Replying to: KarenS (May 25, 2007 7:58 am) Drew VW in San Diego sells the V10 diesel Touareg. I think it is over 7000 lbs GVWR and exempt from the stupid CARB regs. I will look hard at the 2009 V6 diesel Touareg if I have not bought an ML320 CDI by that time. The V10 TDI is overkill in my opinion. I really like the looks of the Touareg better than the ML, X5, or the Cayenne. Nothing from Japan is even close to the Touareg class.
