Article comments for Full Test: 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe - Nissan's starting point here has been the Altima sedan, already an athlete among family-friendly sedans. Instead of dropping a coupe body onto a sedan chassis and installing a set of really long doors, Nissan lopped 4 inches off the sedan's wheelbase (now 105.3 inches) and designed a fresh set of body panels. I asked this question on another board but no one seemed to know. In the article text it says that the Altima coupe has a slalom speed of 68.8 mph while on the spec page of the same article it lists it as 66.8. Which figure is correct? Also, while I'm at it...how does the Altima coupe attain these speeds with 67% front weight bias? I would expect it to understeer. Does Nissan have something special up front? I'm not sure how much of a market there is for powerful v6 front drive Coupes, but Nissan and Honda both consider it to be reasonably fertile ground. I like what I have seen of the Altima Coupe and think Nissan has delivered a pretty impressive combination of style, performance and comfort. Should be a good matchup between this and the '08 Accord Coupe - I hope you'll pit them head-to-head.
