Highlander Hybrid Rental in Jackson WY by jdkahler
May 20, 2007 (8:56 pm)
We rented a HH from the Dollar agency in Jackson, WY, while there in January. We had booked the standard generic "compact - Dodge something or similar" - only to find our compact would be a Corolla, and sitting next to it was a 4WD HH. Since it didn't look like it was going anywhere, I asked how much to upgrade, which ended up being $10 a day more than the Corolla (a bargain compared to the rack rate), which was already lower than the competition for the same size vehicle. When returning to the airport, I noticed several HH in the spaces of other national chains. Moral of the story: there are at least some of the big name locations that have hybrids, and if your timing is right and you don't mind a little bargaining you might get one at a really good rate. I'd call the branch directly and see what's available. Made a lovely - though cold! - trip even nicer having a familiar and trusted vehicle to drive, and save on gas too.

Many Toyota dealers now rent the Prius by the day or week. I rented one for a work trip at www.evrental.com , most times you don't have to refuel when you return it since they are so efficient.

This saved my company money vs a last minute airfair, I also didn't have to fly and then rent a a gas hog for the week of work. Overall it was best for everyone.
